Notes: Abstract. The recently developed energy-scale-dependent Composite Operator Method is applied to the single-impurity Anderson model. A fully self-consistent solution is given and analyzed. At very low temperatures, the density of states presents, on the top of the high-energy background, a Kondo-like peak whose parameter dependence is discussed in detail. The proposed method reproduces the exact results known in the literature with very low numerical effort and it is applicable for arbitrary values of the external parameters.

Notes: Abstract The effects of the Zhang-Rice singlet are included into the RPA-treatment of the Emery model by considering an additional singlet operator. The Fermi level of the doped, paramagnetic case is found within the singlet band. In agreement with the experiments, the dispersion of this band is similar to ordinary bandstructure calculations but it has a reduced bandwidth and is mainly of oxygen character.

Notes: Abstract: In the framework of the cell-perturbation method for the original p-d model an effective two-band Hubbard model for the CuO2 plane with Zn impurities is derived. Zn impurities are modelled by Wanni r oxygen one-hole states at vacant Cu sites. The model is based on the results of band structure calculations carried out within the local-density approximation. Further reduction to an extended t-J model shows a large ferromagnetic superexchange interaction between the Cu spin with the nearest virtual oxygen spin in the Zn cell.

Notes: Abstract: We consider a microscopical model for the Zn-doped CuO2 plane with Zn impurities being described as vacancies for the d-states on Cu sites. A reduction of the original p-d model to an effective one-band model results in the t-J model with vacancies for the spin 1/2 d-states at the Zn-sites. By employing the T-matrix formalism for the Green functions in terms of the Hubbard operators the density of electronic states (DOS) is calculated. Symmetry analysis of the perturbation matrix shows that in the system with d-type electronic wave functions additional DOS of d-, p- and s-types appear due to the perturbation of local energy levels and the interaction between nearest neighbors around the vacancy. The local and resonant state formation caused by Zn impurities is analyzed.

Notes: Abstract. We consider the application of the recursion method to the calculation of one-particle Green’s functions for strongly correlated systems and propose a new way how to extract the information about the infinite system from the exact diagonalisation of small clusters. Comparing the results for several cluster sizes allows us to establish those Lanczos coefficients that are not affected by the finite size effects and provide the information about the Green’s function of the macroscopic system. The analysis of this ‘bulk-related’ subset of coefficients supplemented by alternative analytic approaches allows to infer their asymptotic behaviour and to propose an approximate analytical form for the ‘terminator’ of the Green’s function continued fraction expansion for the infinite system. As a result, the Green’s function acquires the branch cut singularity corresponding to the incoherent part of the spectrum. The method is applied to the spectral function of one-hole in the Majumdar-Ghosh model (the one-dimensional $ t-J-J^{\prime}$ model at $J^{\prime }/J=1/2$ ). For this model, the branch cut starts at finite energy $\omega_0$ , but there is no upper bound of the spectrum, corresponding to a linear increase of the recursion coefficients. Further characteristics of the spectral function are band gaps in the middle of the band and bound states below $\omega_0$ or within the gaps. The band gaps arise due to the period doubling of the unit cell and show up as characteristic oscillations of the recursion coefficients on top of the linear increase.

Notes: Abstract Using the method of supersymmetry, effective equations are derived for the one-particle Green's function of various one-dimensional disordered models. As an example, explicit expressions for the density of states and the localization length are derived for the two-band model of a one-dimensional semiconductor.
