Description:
In this work, a series of Pd/MWCNTs catalysts were prepared for total oxidation of methane. And their morphologies, thermal stabilities and redox properties were investigated by TEM, TG-DTA and TPR characterizations. Their textures properties were also measured by BET method. On the basis, the catalytic behaviors were tailored by pretreating with mixed acid solution and changing the MWCNT diameters. Results showed that higher MWCNT diameter improved the Pd dispersion, and enhanced their catalytic properties of Pd/MWCNTs. A proper ratio of HNO 3 to H 2 SO 4 can provide the moderate active sites such as oxygen-containing groups (OCGs) and defects, on which Pd precursor can be attached or anchored. Excessive H 2 SO 4 will deteriorate the framework of carbon, and lower the intensity of oxygen-containing groups (OCGs) decorated on MWCNTs outer surface. As a result, the activity of Pd/MWCNTs catalysts for methane oxidation was suppressed.
