Notes: This paper is a continuation of the work of Bonnor and Raychaudhuri on a charged dust distribution in rigid rotation in general relativity. Here the authors are concerned with the similar problem of a charged perfect fluid with nonvanishing pressure. As in Raychaudhuri's work, symmetry-independent reduction of Einstein–Maxwell equations is undertaken. Certain assumptions in Raychaudhuri's paper regarding the inheritance by the electromagnetic field of the symmetry resulting from the rigidity of the motion are justified.

Notes: Summary Disturbances generated by pressure on the surface of a spherical cavity inside (i) a dispersive medium, (ii) a medium having transverse isotropy about the radius vector have been considered. Finally, a brief discussion of the propagation of waves in visco-elastic media has been added.

Notes: Summary Two problems of propagation of waves from a spherical cavity in an elastic medium, with transverse isotropy about the radius vector have been considered, the source of the disturbances being (1) an impulsive pressure on the cavity surface and (2) an impulsive radial velocity of the particles of the cavity surface.

Notes: Summary The frequency equation of the thermo-elastic Rayleigh waves in a semi-infinite transversely isotropic solid has been obtained. The form of the frequency equation for small values of the reduced frequency has also been deduced, and it is found that, as in the isotropic medium, the velocity does not depend on the frequency. But unlike the isotropic case, the velocity depends upon the thermal constants as well.

Notes: Summary An approximate form of the transonic integral equation of Oswatitsch for steady inviscid flow past a thin symmetric profile at zero incidence has been studied iteratively. A direct iteration scheme has been presented, which converges to the same shock-free supercritical flow for four different starting solutions. Another square-root iteration scheme, which converges in subcritical flow, has been discussed. Also, the computational results delivered by the Schubert-Schleiff series [2] are presented briefly. Computational results show that, for a parabolic arc profile, shock-free supercritical flow exists for values of the reduced thickness ratio τ in the range 0.596〈τ〈0.64.

Notes: Summary The propagation of Love waves in water-saturated soil overlying a non-homogeneous elastic medium has been investigated in the present paper. The solution of the problem is evaluated with the help of Fourier transform technique. It has been found that the velocity of body wave depends on the direction of propagation, and the velocity of Love wave depends on the porosity of the layer and the non-homogeneity character of the medium as well. Further, the effect of porosity and heterogeneity has been shown graphically.

Notes: Abstract Unethical business in India became a recognized phenomenon during the second World War. Academic/journalistic/legal concern with ethics has become visible only during the nineties. Corruption-of-the-poor and corruption-of-the-rich need to be distinguished – especially in the context of globalization. The danger of attributing unethical practices to system failure is recognized. It is also important to bring to bear on intellectual property rights the more fundamental principle of natural property rights. Consciousness ethics will be more crucial than just intellectual ethics.

Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Es wurden Versuche zur Bestimmung der Enthalpie und Entropie der Übertragung von H+ von Wasser auf Lösungsmittelgemische unter Benutzung kalorimetrischer Daten früherer Experimente unternommen.
Notes: Abstract Attempts have been made to determine the enthalpy and entropy of transfer of H+ ion from water to mixed solvents using the calorimetric data of earlier experiments. The results are in qualitative agreement with the facts that ΔH t 0 (H+) passes through an exothermic maximum andTΔS t 0 passes through a minimum at about 20 to 30 wt% of organic solvent indicating the initial structure formation and the ultimate breakdown of the solvent structure with the addition of organic solvent.

Notes: Abstract It is shown that the stationary cylindrically symmetric solution of Einstein's field equations as given recently by Vishveshwara and Hoenselaers [1] is identical with the well-known Gödel solution.
