Stereochemistry of the (2+2)Cycloadducts of Dichlorovinylenecarbonate to Cycloolefins and BenzeneThe photosensitized cycloaddition of dichlorovinylenecarbonate (DCVC) to cyclopentene and cyclohexene leads to stereoisomeric (2-2)cycloadducts. The sterical patterns of which are elucidated by 1H-n.m.r. spectroscopy.-Thus the relative anisotropic resp. inductive effects of either the carbonate group or the Cl-atoms on the tertiary H-atoms of the ring junctions are recognized by comparison with structural analogs 1,2). The results confirm doubtless the exo-stereochemistry 1a of the described DCVCl/benzene(2+2)cycloadduct3). Charge transferabsorption bands attributed to mixtures of DCVC and aromatics4) are caused by oxalylchloride which contaminates DCVC.
Notes:
