Description / Table of Contents:
Summary Artificial contamination of third stage white grubs is made by injection with an hypodermical syringe of physiological water containing infectious larvae purchased from eggs laid at least one year ago. The free-living nematodes are kept in Petri dishes filled with water and calibrated and sterilized wet sand and placed in double-walled cages. Each parasited larva contains at least one unmature female ofM. hagmeieri; after moulting and fecundation, it is able to lay 2 to 3 months after host leaving, some hundreds of thousand eggs. Breeding of this parasitic nematode is possible; with this technic a practical experimentation should allow the realization of breeding areas in the fields damaged by the white grubs.
