Abstract Degenerate perturbation theory is used to calculate energy levels of stationary states of the quantized discrete self-trapping (QDST) equation in the weak dispersion limit. Two specific applications are described: (1) the CH stretch vibrations of benzene, and (2) a long molecular chain with nearest-neighbour interactions and periodic boundary conditions.
