Summary 1. The aluminum peroxy compound formed by reaction between triethylaluminum andα,α- dimethylbenzyl hydroperoxide is unstable and, depending on the temperature, is converted into an alkoxy compound or decomposes with formation of free radicals. 2. Organoaluminum compounds initiate radical polymerization only under conditions that ensure their conversion into the corresponding peroxy derivatives.
