Beschreibung: Marine biofouling by the swiftly spreading invasive mussel (Musculista senhousia) has caused serious ecological and economic consequences in the global coastal waters. However, the fate of this highly invasive fouling species in a rapidly acidifying ocean remains unknown. Here, we demonstrated the impacts of ocean acidification within and across generations, to understand whether M. senhousia has the capacity to acclimate to changing ocean conditions. During the gonadal development, exposure of mussels to elevated pCO2 caused significant decreases of survival, growth performance and condition index, and shifted the whole-organism energy budget by inflating energy expenses to fuel compensatory processes, eventually impairing the success of spawning. Yet, rapid transgenerational acclimation occurred during the early life history stage and persisted into adulthood. Eggs spawned from CO2-exposed mussels were significantly bigger compared with those from non-CO2-exposed mussels, indicating increased maternal provisioning into eggs and hence conferring larvae resilience under harsh conditions. Larvae with a prior history of transgenerational exposure to elevated pCO2 developed faster and had a higher survival than those with no prior history of CO2 exposure. Transgenerational exposure significantly increased the number of larvae completing metamorphosis. While significant differences in shell growth were no longer observed during juvenile nursery and adult grow-out, transgenerationally exposed mussels displayed improved survival in comparison to non-transgenerationally exposed mussels. Metabolic plasticity arose following transgenerational acclimation, generating more energy available for fitness-related functions. Overall, the present study demonstrates the remarkable ability of M. senhousia to respond plastically and acclimate rapidly to changing ocean conditions.

Notizen: There could be multi-failure modes in the course of working of the structure systemincluding slender bar members. For example, strength failure, fatigue failure and buckling failure, especially sudden buckling failure would bring large disaster to structure. In this paper, according toFatigue and Damage Mechanics theory, safe margin expression of the different failure mode ofstructure (static strength, fatigue and buckling) is given firstly, then by analyzing different failuremode of structural element under static and fatigue loads, and failure mode of the calculatingelement is confirmed by comparing the failure probability value of different failure mode. In thecourse of searching for significant failure paths, not only is failure mode that stiffness matrix ofstructure is zero considered, but also buckling failure mode of compressed residual structure isconsidered too, so that failure analysis is more reasonable. In the end, the reliability calculatingmethod of the structural system is given, and the validity of the method proposed in this paper isexplained combining an example

Notizen: Physical properties of element are very complex under fatigue loads. The structuralsystem consisted of elements is not a simple topological structure, which the change of its physicalproperties is more complex. In order to analyze quantitatively the structural stiffness reliability ofdifferent design life,it is important to establish the accurate formula of physical properties decrease. In this paper, the formula of elements’ elastic modulus decrease is deduced by using damagemechanics theory combining with the model of residual strength of element. Moreover, stiffnessreliability index of controlling node of truss system is solved by applying the Stochastic FiniteElement Method in different service life

Notizen: Generally, a safe margin equation is established by critical load coefficient and externalload coefficient of the system in structural integrity stable reliability analysis, and then the reliabilityindex of structural integrity stability is educed. Critical load coefficient is always obtained oncondition that structure is acted on by one load. Actually, besides one load acting on the structure, their distribution is not always the same. In addition, because of the stochastic characteristic ofstructure system itself (e.g., cross-section of element, length, modulus of elasticity etc. are randomvariables), it is difficult for structural integrity stable reliability analysis. According to the theory ofstructure system stability and basal concept of reliability, the safe margins of structure system underdifferent distribution loads are presented in this paper. The expression of safe margin sensitivity isgiven by stochastic finite element method because the safe margin is the expression of implicitfunction. Furthermore, the reliability indexes of the safe margin under different condition are educedby the advanced first order second moment method (AFOSM). By comparison and analysis, thestructural integrity stable reliability index is ultimately obtained

Notizen: Based on BAYES data processing theory, a new method of fuzzy probability is proposedfor the parameter reliability of small sample. Prior distribution of fuzzy parameter is obtained bystochastic weighted method, then posterior distribution of fuzzy parameter is got by the method ofconjugate distribution. In the end, the formula of fuzzy membership function is constructed, andprobability of fuzzy events is solved. The study of this paper aims at the membership function which isdeduced in the condition that mean is known and deviation is unknown in normal populationdistribution. At the same time using information of small sample of actual experiment, the study fullyutilizes prior information, so, it is convincing to evaluate reliability of fuzzy parameter. It is obviouslyeconomical

Notizen: According to the piezoelectric material damage theory and the fracture criterion based ondamage theory, which has been established by Yang et al, reliability analysis of a damagedpiezoelectric truss is carried out. The expression of safety margins of the piezoelectric beam has beenproposed, with the mechanical damage extension force, electric damage extension force, InertiaMoment of cross-section and nodal loads as stochastic variables. Then the truss is dealt withrandomly, and the corresponding reliability index is got according to the Taylor stochastic finiteelement. The result indicates that the reliability of the system is influenced greatly when the positiveand negative electric fields have been applied on the structure, which provides the basis to control thereliability of structural system. Finally, through a calculation example, the quantification results of thereliability index are compared under the conditions of positive electric field, negative electric field orno electric field

Notizen: Femtosecond laser pulses are irradiated on a single-side polished single-crystalline siliconwafer. Metamorphic zone appears around the ablated zone and the morphology changes gradually inthe metamorphic zone. Typical phenomena of thermal ablation such as melt-resolidification andsubtransparent glassy materials occur in the marginal area of the ablated zone. No apparent changesare found among microscopic morphologies of the ablated, metamorphic and unirradiated zones. There are flaws and spallations on the smooth back surface of the wafer, which are caused by thestress inside the sample. Nanomechanical properties of the sample surface hardly change in the smallscope of the backside around the ablated zone. While regular changes occur in large scope, which isthe conjunct result of such stresses caused by many different collateral damages

Notizen: High-energy femtosecond laser pulses were utilized to ablate single-crystalline siliconwafer. Collateral damage areas around the ablation zone can be observed in microscope. Themorphology in such areas changes gradually. The microscopic morphology and nanomechanicalproperties of the pre-polished back surface were measured by AFM and Hysitron TriboIndenterrespectively. The topography and roughness in the ablated, metamorphic and unaffected zone arealmost equal. Yet the elastic ratio and hardness on the back surface vary gradually with indentpositions, which coincide with the gradual morphological changes in the metamorphic zone on thefront surface. Such regular changes in nanomechanical properties, to some extent, reflect thedistribution of collateral damages near the ablated zone on the back surface. And they also testifythe occurrence of the ill effects that go against micromachining during high-energy femtosecondlaser irradiation
