Beschreibung: Recently, Kim's work (in press) introduced q-Bernstein polynomials which are different Phillips' q-Bernstein polynomials introduced in the work by (Phillips, 1996; 1997). The purpose of this paper is to study some properties of several type Kim's q-Bernstein polynomials to express the p-adic q-integral of these polynomials on ℤp associated with Carlitz's q-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials. Finally, we also derive some relations on the p-adic q-integral of the products of several type Kim's q-Bernstein polynomials and the powers of them on ℤp.

Beschreibung: Poor quality of the carbon preform including missing rods can affect the desired properties of the tailored composite. The carbon preform is currently manufactured manually and therefore, an effective solution for guaranteeing the quality of carbon preform is needed. This paper proposes new inspection method that can detect the missing rods of carbon preform by just taking a picture of it. The new method found all missing rods and marked missing place with red circle. By wide use of smart devices, it becomes very easy to take a picture nowadays and the picture quality has improved dramatically. Moreover, the inspection method suggested in this paper can be easily converted into a form of android application and it is expected to be applied effectively to the fields of manufacture of the carbon preform.

Notizen: Abstract An integrated precision inspection system has been developed for manufacturing moulds having CAD defined features. The techniques of precision measurement are implemented for CAD/CAI integration for moulds having sculptured surfaces with some basic features, such as, holes, slots and bosses. Features to be inspected are chosen in the CAD environment, and inspection planning is performed for each feature. The sampling-point strategies are: uniform distribution, curvature dependent distribution, or hybrid distribution of the two depending on the complexity of the sculptured surface. Line and plane features are divided into subintervals, and the measurement points are distributed at random positions in the subinterval. Prime number subintervals are considered for a circle feature, in order to avoid possible periodic distortion of the measurement features. The measurement path planning is performed considering collision avoidance and coordinate matching between the coordinates. The output of the planning is the machine code for a specific CMM having CNC capability. The machine code is downloaded to a specific CMM, and the measurement results are fed back to the computer. A new algorithm, called MINIMAXSURF, is developed to evaluate the form error precisely for sculptured surfaces. The algorithm considers the radius of the touch probe and evaluates the profile tolerance successfully by removing the unavoidable setup errors. The developed measurement system has been applied to real moulds, demonstrating high performance and accuracy.

Notizen: Abstract The Center for NDE, Iowa State University, has developed a laboratory prototype Golay code pulse compression system and tested it on a variety of materials. The performance of the system was evaluated in terms of signal-to-noise ratio enhancement (SNRE), resolution, and computation speed. The system's error sources also were discussed. The Golay code pulse compression was simulated on a computer and demonstrated the effective noise suppression. In addition, an equivalent pulse of the Golay code (delta-like pulse) was derived theoretically using a simple ultrasonic inspection model, which demonstrated its equivalence on the output correlated signal. Overall, the pulse compression technique extended the detection range for a given peak power and considerably reduced the system'swhite noise, hence providing enhanced signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs). An average of 30 dB improvement in SNR was obtained from highly energy-absorbent materials such as rubber, plastics, corks (insulation materials), and thick composites using the Golay codes of up to 512 bits. However, the technique did not effectively reduce coherent scattering noises from the coarse grain boundaries in cast stainless steels, Inconel weld metal, and material lay-ups in thin composites. Furthermore, it was found that, depending upon the system's hardware capabilities, the overall performance could be degraded considerably.

Notizen: Abstract A finite element beam formulation that properly takes into account the warping of the cross-sections has been extended to the free vibration analysis of rotating and nonrotating composite beams. The formulation allows transverse shear deformation and the warping effects are incorporated by superimposing warping displacements that are parallel to the beam axis in the deformed configuration. For modeling of thin and moderately thick walled sections, the strain is assumed to be linear through the wall thickness. Numerical tests were conducted to calculate the natural frequencies of cantilever composite beams with various ply layups. Correlations of the calculated natural frequencies with experimentally measured values demonstrate the validity of the present approach. Although only rectangular solid and box beams were considered for numerical tests, the formulation allows modeling of beams with complicated cross-sections, tapers, pretwists and arbitrary planforms.

Notizen: Abstract A finite element model that can be applied to helicopter rotor blades has been developed with a particular emphasis on the proper representation of out-of-plane warping of arbitrary cross-sections. The model can describe accurately coupled bending, torsion and extensional behavior of beams undergoing small strain, moderately large deflection. The model can also handle beams with arbitrary cross-sections, taper, pretwist and planform. A main feature of the present approach is to introduce small warping displacement superimposed over flat cross-sections of a shear-flexible beam in the direction of the reference axis in deformed configuration. The nonlinear equilibrium equation resulting from finite element approximation is solved by the Newton-Raphson method. Numerical tests involving simple isotropic beams demonstrate the validity of the present approach.
