    Description / Table of Contents: Edge-sharing of Two Five-membered Metal Chelate Rings: Structures and Magnetism of Mo0-, CuI-, and CoII-Complexes with the S-Frame Ligand Azo-2,2′-pyridineEdge-sharing of two α-Iminoazo five-membered chelate rings in dinuclear complexes of the S-frame ligand azo-2,2′-pyridine (apy) gives rise to short distances between coplanar molecule-bridged metal centers. An intramolecular Cu—Cu distance of 493.7 pm was found for {(μ,η4-apy)[Cu(PPh3)2]2}2+ in the crystal with BF4- anions. Despite such relatively short metal-metal distances the corresponding CoII dimer (μ,η4-apy)[Co(hfacac)2]2 (hfacac: hexafluoroacetylacetonate) does not exhibit unusual magnetic coupling between the high-spin d7 centers. The mononuclear complex (apy)Mo(CO)4 contains a not completely coplanar apy ligand; the free pyridyl group is rotated in such a fashion as to minimize steric repulsion and possibly coordinate weakly to the metal.
    Notes: Die Kantenverknüpfung zweier α-Iminoazo-Metallchelatfünfringe in Zweikernigen Komplexen des „S-Frame“-Liganden Azo-2,2′-pyridin (apy) bedingt kurze Abstände zwischen koplanar Molekül-verbrückten Metallzentren. Für {(μ,η4-apy)[Cu(PPh3)2]2}2+ wurde im Kristall mit BF4- als Anionen ein intramolekularer Kupfer-Kupfer-Abstand von 493,7 pm gefunden. Trotzdem zeigt das entsprechende CoII-Dimer (μ,η4-apy)[Co(hfacac)2]2 (hfacac: Hexafluoroacetylacetonat) keine ungewöhnliche magnetische Kopplung zwischen den high-spin d7-Zentren. Der einkernige Komplex (apy)Mo(CO)4 weist eine nicht völlig koplanare Konformation des apy-Liganden auf, wobei die freie Pyridyl-Gruppe in Richtung auf verminderte Abstoßung und möglicherweise schwache zusätzliche N-Koordination am Metall gedreht ist.
