Notes:
Summary The change in heart rate following infusion of adenosine in healthy human subjects was studied on two occasions. Adenosine produced a significant, dose-related increase in heart rate. Tachyphylaxis to this effect of the naturally occurring nucleoside did not occur. There was a tendency for prolonged infusion to cause a greater increase in heart rate, but this did not reach significance.
