Abstract The production of antibacterial substances under different nutritive conditions has been studied in members of the Pseudonocardiaceae family. The results show that media with low nitrogen content stimulate the production of antibacterial substances in the genera Amycolatopsis, Saccharomonospora and Saccharopolyspora, while strains from the genus Pseudonocardia produce these metabolites in media with moderate or high nitrogen content.
