An apparatus has been constructed which allows decomposition of acid-soluble sulfides in HC1 and absorption of the generated H2S in an iodine solution of known content. All operations are carried out in one closed vessel, eliminating the necessity to use a carrier gas and gas transfer. The sulfur content of the sample is determined by backtitration of the I2 solution with arsenite or thiosulfate solution.
