Description / Table of Contents: The decomposition of formic acid on a mixture of magnesia and chromic oxide and on magnesium chromite spinel has been investigated. According to measurements the magnesium chromite spinel catalyses more actively the decomposition of formic acid than mixed magnesium-chromic oxids this do. Further it had been observed that at the beginning of spinel-formation a transition state with good defect conductivity arises which on comparing both to the spinel and oxide mixture results in a considerably increase of activity.
