    Description / Table of Contents: Crystal and Molecular Structure of Bis-phenanthrolin-monocarbonato-cobalt (III)-bromide, [Co(phen)2CO3]Br · 4H2OThe substance crystallizes triclinic, space group P1 and the cell dimensions are a = 16.411(8) Å, b = 7.858(4) Å, c = 10.601(3) Å, α = 89.1(2)°, β = 108.3(2)°; γ = 76.0(1)° with two formula units in the unit cell. The ligator atoms are arranged distorted octahedral with biden-tately coordinated carbonate. The Co—N distances are between 1.940 Å and 1.963 Å, respectively. In comparison to the free ligand, the bond distances and angles are not influenced; the bonding parameters of the carbonate ligand are consisting with other investigations.

Die Ligatoratome sind verzerrt oktaedrisch angeordnet, mit zweizähnig koordiniertem Carbonat. Die Co—N-Bindungsabstände liegen zwischen 1,940 Å und 1,963 Å und die Co—O-Abstände betragen 1,895 Å bzw. 1,885 Å. Durch die Komplexbildung werden die Bindungsabstände und -winkel im 1,10-Phenanthrolin im Vergleich zum freien Liganden nicht beeinflußt; die Bindungsparameter des Carbonatliganden stimmen mit anderen Strukturuntersuchungen überein.
