Description: Discussion of precision X-ray telescopes which are to be mounted on HEAO-C aircraft designed to study the structure, energy spectra and transient behavior of specific X-ray objects by the scanning and mapping of the sky. The design features and performance characteristics of the three high-resolution X-ray telescopes and their optical systems are considered. Mission equipment specifications and systems diagrams are appended. The HEAO-C mission is planned for launching by the Shuttle in the late 70s, with the capability of pointing to within one arc minute of X-ray sources for long periods of time.
