Abstract Determining the isotope effect of impurity diffusion in an electrotransport experiment under steady state conditions permits the evaluation of the effective charge of the impurity. In addition, the intrinsic diffusion coefficient of the solvent can be determined, which allows us to find the vacancy flow factor. Making use of other diffusion data it is then possible to calculate atomic jump frequency ratios in the neighborhood of a vacancy.
