Notizen:
Summary Acidic subcellular structures in the hydra-Chlorella symbiosis were identified by an immunocytochemical analysis of the distribution of the weak base, N-(3-[(2,4-dimitrophenyl)amino]propyl)-N-(3-aminopropyl)methylamine dihydrochloride (DAMP). DAMP accumulated in stenotele nematocysts and gland cell granules, and amorphous vacuoles in the epidermis, but not in the immediate environment of the symbioticChlorella, i.e., in the space between eachChlorella cell and the perisymbiont membrane. These results do not substantiate the view that the perisymbiotic space in the green hydra symbiosis is acidic.
