Description / Table of Contents:
In the system Na2O—ZrO2 only one compound, Na2ZrO3, has been confirmed.Three species of K2Zr2O5 having different X-ray diagrams have been prepared in the system K2—ZrO2 (type I with K2O:ZrO2= 0.5:1, type II being the most stable one with 〈0.5:1, and type III with 〉0.5:1). From investigations of the hydrolysis of K2Zr2O5, there is evidence for a K+—H+-ion exchange process.In the system Rb2O—ZrO2 the only compound Rb2—Zr2O5 is probably isotype with K2Zr2O5 I.Three zirconates of lithium, Li4ZrO4, Li2ZrO3, and Li2Zr2O5, have been found. Lithium dizirconate is formed by heating the reaction products resulting from the following interaction \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$$ {\rm Li}_{\rm 4} {\rm ZrO}_{\rm 4} + 3\,{\rm CH}_{\rm 3} {\rm OH} \to {\rm 3}\,{\rm LiOCH}_{\rm 3} + {\rm LiOH + ZrO}_{\rm 2} + {\rm H}_{\rm 2} {\rm O}{\rm .} $$\end{document}
Notes:
Als einzige Verbindung im System Na2O—ZrO2 wird das Na2ZrO3 bestätigt. Im System K2O—ZrO2 existieren drei röntgenographisch unterscheidbare Formen des K2Zr2O5 (Form I K2O/ZrO2= 0,5:1;II〈0,5:1;III〉0,5:1). Die stabile aller drei Formen ist II. Die Hydrolyse des K2Zr2O5 führt in der Kälte nicht zu vollständiger Zersetzung, sondern ist beendet, wenn etwa ¼ des Gehaltes an Kalium gelöst ist. Beim Erhitzen derartiger Hydrolyseprodukte entsteht unter Freiwerden von ZrO2 die Form III. Die Hydrolyse wird als Ionenaustausch K+—H+ gedeutet. Das System Rb2O—ZrO2 enthält ebenfalls nur eine einzige Verbindung, das Rb2Zr2O5, das wahrscheinlich mit K2ZrO2O5 I isotyp ist. An Zirkonat des Lithiums werden nachgewiesen Li4ZrO4, Li2ZrO3, und Li2Zr2O5. Das Dizirkonat entsteht beim Erhitzen von Methanolyseprodukten des Li4ZrO4. Dieses reagiert mit absolutem Methanol gemäß \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$$ {\rm Li}_{\rm 4} {\rm ZrO}_{\rm 4} + 3\,{\rm CH}_{\rm 3} {\rm OH} \to {\rm 3}\,{\rm LiOCH}_{\rm 3} + {\rm LiOH + ZrO}_{\rm 2} + {\rm H}_{\rm 2} {\rm O}{\rm .} $$\end{document}
