Notes: Stability constant and related thermodynamic parameters (ΔH° and ΔS°) of a multicomponent intermacromolecular complex consisting of poly(acrylic acid-coacrylamide), poly(methacrylic acid-co-acrylamide) and poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) have been determined using known methods. A distinct stepwise disintegration of the complex at different temperatures has been observed, and this could be correlated with the stability constant and thermodynamic parameters calculated at various temperatures.

Notes: Interpolymer complexes of methacrylic acid-acrylamide copolymer have been prepared by the interaction of its comonomer units with two different homopolymers, and also with a single homopolymer. The stability constants and related thermodynamic parameters (e.g., ΔH0 and ΔS0) of the mixed complex were found to be significantly different from the single homopolymer complexes. This has been attributed to neighboring group influence and destabilization of various interacting forces at different temperatures. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

Notes: p-Aminobenzoic acid/p-hydroxybenzoic acid/formaldehyde copolymer (I) was prepared and characterized. An interpolymer complex of copolymer (I) was prepared by adding stoichiometric amounts of a polyelectrolyte [poly(methacrylic acid)] and non-ionic homopolymers [poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) and poly(ethylene oxide)]. The stability constant and related thermodynamic parameters (ΔH0 and ΔS0) were determined in DMF-H2O mixtures of different compositions using Osada's method. The stepwise degradation of the complex is explained on the basis of the relative stability of various interacting forces, particularly in media of varying dielectric constant. Electrochemical studies in the media substantiate the observations from thermodynamic studies.
