A large scale apparature for preparative precipitation fractionation of polymers is described, 100 g. of polymer in a 1% solution can be applied. The way of fractionation is discussed for polystyrene VI (Mw/Mn = 2.6). It is shown that a high number of repeated fractionations is necessary to get samples, whose distribution curves do not overlap though they still have a finite molecular weight distribution.

Eine Anlage zur präparativen Fällfraktionierung von Hochpolymeren wird beschrieben, die so ausgelegt ist, daß ca. 100 g an Ausgangssubstanz aus 1-proz. Lösung fraktioniert werden können. Der Verlauf einer Fraktionierung wird am Beispiel des Polystyrols VI (Mw/Mn = 2,6) diskutiert. Dabei ergibt sich, daß eine hohe Zahl von Unterfraktionen erforderlich ist, um Endsubstanzen zu erhalten, die zwar noch eine endliche Molekulargewichtsverteilung besitzen, deren Verteilungskurven sich jedoch nicht mehr überschneiden.
