Notes: Abstract A set of accurate surface-tension data for HFC-125 has been obtained experimentally with both an absolute capillary rise technique and a differential capillary rise technique in the temperature range of 233.15–333.15 K. The purity of the experimental HFC-125 sample is 99.98 wt%. The two sets of experimental results with an absolute capillary rise method agree well with each other and, also, with the experimental results with a differential capillary rise method. The absolute deviations of experimental results with these two methods are within 0.01 mN · m−1. The relative deviation are within 0.2%. A van der Waals surface-tension correlation is also proposed.

Notes: The primary goal of this study was to develop 2-D and 3-D computer simulation schemes for the mold filling processes of structural reaction injection molding (SRIM) and resin transfer molding (RTM) under isothermal conditions. The developed computer code was able to simulate the mold filling in molds with complicated geometry, Experiments were also carried out based on flow vitalizations. Experimental results were compared with the numerical simulations.

Description: A new concept of high reliability strapdown attitude sensing systems for space vehicles is presented. Each system utilizes a set of redundant two-degree-of-freedom gyros. An optimum system configuration is obtained for maximum system reliability and the best measurement accuracy. Improved accuracy of the final data is obtained by using the least-square data reduction technique. Each system possesses a sensor performance management feature which is capable of failure detection, faulty gyro identification, system reconfiguration, and possibly, sensor recalibration. Improvement in reliability as compared to other types of strapdown systems is demonstrated. Details of the development are described in terms of a system containing four gyros.
