Evans-cells in different aeration with oxygenAs it is difficult to adjust in a reproducible manner the current density in oxygen concentration cells - this also applies to other concentration cells of an electrone-receiver type - those test conditions have been closely examined which must be kept constant in order to enable a reproducible work.Though the quantity of oxygen dissolved in the electrolyte is in all degrees of aeration equally high, the current density varied very much. It was found that the cause of this fact is a stirring effect caused by the aeration. In the moved electrolyte more oxygen reacts electrothemically at the cathode than in the static electrolyte.
Notes:
