Description: A study of the hydrochemical characteristics of Chile Bay waters from austral summers 1995 and 1998, based upon of horizontal and vertical distribution of the concentration of several chemical parameters, determined on water samples obtained from nine sampling stations, which are located on three perpendicular to the coast of the bay profiles in which are considered areas near to the entrance of the bay, as well as the central portion and the inner area of the bay, is presented. Samples were obtained from two levels, from surface to 30 m depth. The obtained results from the chemical analysis of the samples indicate water temperatures in relation to the studied area and the season of the year. Besides this, the study showed that water of Chile Bay are well oxygenated, with relatively low salinity as a result of ice melting from glaciers from the surrounding area, specially on 1995, and with relatively high nutrient concentration related with the normal high productivity of antarctic waters.
