Abstract The article reports on one of the more sophisticated critical editions ever to be published in electronic format. The Wife of Bath is richly encoded, provides access to literally thousands of manuscript images, and enables users to assess the relationships between the numerous extant manuscript editions. The authors assess the methods used in the edition's development and the lessons learned through its production.
