The objectives of our fish and bivalve study are:1. Determine changes in the number of species of fishand bivalves before Phase I and during Phase I atBolsa Chica Marsh.2. Determine if California Department of Fish and Game'spredicted benefits in Phase I were achieved by increasesin fish species.3. Determine influences of water management practicesupon fish and bivalve composition.Nine species of fish and three species of bivalves werecollected above the tide gates. Goldfish, Carassius auratus;shiner surfperch, Cymatogaster aggregata; queenfish, Seriphus politus; and California jackknife clam, Tagelus californianus have not been reported previously from above the tide gates. Five species of fish and four species of bivalves were collected below the tide gates. Striped bass, Roccus saxatilis; and cheekspot goby, Ilypnus gilberti have not been reported previously from below the tide gates. (8pp.)
