    Notes: Abstract Semi-Riemannian manifolds with a suitable set of conformal symmetries are shown to be complete. Locally warped products are studied and warped-completeness is introduced. In the case of definite and complete basis, several assumptions on the growth of the warping function yield some of the three kinds of completeness. The case of 1-dimensional basis (including a known family of relativistic space-times) is specially studied. Null warped-completeness is related to the completeness of a certain conformal metric on the basis. Several examples and counter-examples explaining the main results are also given.

    Notes: Trinuclear complexes containing pyrazolate bridging ligands of the type [NBu4]2[{(C6F5)2 M(μ-pz)(μ-X)}2M′] (M, M′= Pd or Pt; X = Cl, OH, or pz) (Hpz = pyrazole) have been prepared using [NBu4][M(C6F5)2(acac)] (acac = acetylacetonate) or [NBu4]2[M2(C6F5)4(μ-OH)2] and [M′Cl2(Hpz)2] or [M′(Hpz)4]2+ as starting materials. Asymmetric homo- and heterobimetallic complexes of the types [NBu4][R2M(μ-pz)2Pd(η3-allyl)] and [R2M(μ-pz)2M′L2] (allyl = C3H5 or C4H7; L2 = 2 PEt3 or bipy; R = C6F5 or C6Cl5; M, M′ = Pd or Pt) have been obtained starting from [NBu4][MR2(pzHpz)] and [Pd(η3-allyl)(acac)] or [M′L2Cl2], respectively. The identity of the new complexes has been established by NMR (1H, 19F and 31P) spectroscopy. The crystal structure of [{(C6F5)2Pd(μ-pz)(μ-Cl)}2Pd]2- has an inversion centre, with a bent appearance of the Pd3(μ-pz)2(μ-Cl)2 moiety. The crystal structure of [(C6F5)2Pd(μ-pz)2Pd(η3-C4H7)] has also been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, where a boat conformation of the central “Pd2N4” six-membered rings is observed.

    Notes: We report the sequence of a 23 002 bp fragment located on the right arm of Saccharomyces cerevisiae chromosome VII. Analysis of this region revealed 14 complete open reading frames (ORFs) with more than 300 base pairs. Six of them correspond to previously known genes. G7164 is the QCR9 gene coding for subunit 9 of the cytochrome c reductase; G7168 is UBR1, encoding an ubiquitin protein ligase; G7522 is the TYS1 gene, which encodes for the tyrosyl tRNA synthetase; G7526 is TFG1, the gene coding for the RNA polymerase transcription initiation factor TFIIF (factor G); G7538 is the gene HGH1 which encodes a protein related to the mammalian HMG1 and HMG2 proteins. G7542 is the BUB1 gene which encodes a ser/thr protein kinase involved in spindle assembly during the cell cycle. One of the ORFs, G7553, shares significant homologies with the gene UTR2 from S. cerevisiae. None of the seven remaining ORFs shows similarity to any of the sequences within the public databases. Three ORFs are internal ORFs of the above-described known genes, and two small ORFs are completely contained in larger ORFs on the complementary strand, and therefore probably do not correspond to real genes. This region also contains three genes specifying tRNAs for Leu, Lys and Trp, and several LTR elements. The sequence described in this paper has been deposited in the EMBL data library under the Accession Number X99074. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

    Notes: We report the sequence of a 9037 bp fragment from the right arm of Saccharomyces cerevisiae chromosome VII. Analysis of the sequence revealed four complete open reading frames (ORFs), namely G7572, G7576, G7579 and G7584. The first three corresponded, respectively, to the previously cloned genes: HIP1, coding for a high-affinity histidine-specific permease, TDH1, one of the known genes coding for glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase and ODPX, which encodes a precursor of protein X, a component of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex. The ORF G7584 showed 35·8% identity with a hypothetical protein of Caenorhabditis elegans chromosome 3. The reported sequence has been deposited in the EMBL data library under Accession Number X82408.
