    Description: These data include comprehensive biostratigraphy charts and data sets of calcareous nannofossils, foraminifers and radiolarians built and interpreted to characterize the geologic age and depositional environment of the Paleocene Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM) event in the Gulf of Mexico. Paleontology data for each of these wells is publicly available through one of the identified databases (URL's provided below). Data used in this study include calcareous nannofossils, foraminifers and radiolarians. The data sets are separate for each microfossil group, except foraminifers and radiolarians are compiled together. The datasets are provided in Comma Separated Values (.CSV) format, compatible with Microsoft Excel. All datasets provided are the full, original datasets submitted by the operator. The large PDF charts show the full suite of biostratigraphy data across the interval examined for this study including details regarding the determination of geologic age and depositional environment. These charts were produced using BugCAD software, a product of BugWare, Inc.     Description: Here, we present carbon and oxygen stable isotope data measured on bulk carbonates samples from Site U1558. The site was drilled during the International Ocean Discovery Program engineering Expedition 390C and Expedition 393 and is part of the South Atlantic Transect (SAT), a transect drilled across the western side of the southern Mid-Atlantic Ridge at ~31°S. The data set was built analyzing samples from Site U1558 Holes A and F. The data reported here span the early Eocene-early Oligocene, according to the shipboard preliminary age model for this site, and can be used to refine the age model for this site, to correlate this site with sites from other ocean basins, and could be of help in paleoceanography-related investigations.
