    Notizen: Summary 1,19-Bilindiones bearing a phenanthryl, mesityl,tert-butyl, and isopropyl substituent at the C-10 position were synthesized. Conformational analysis using13C- and1H-NMR spectroscopic techniques and absorption spectroscopy together with semiempirical calculations revealed that the aryl derivatives adopt the common circular helical geometry, whereas thetert-butyl derivative is heavily distorted. The mean planes of the two dipyrrinone moieties are orthogonally positioned to each other. The 10-isopropyl-bilindione tautomerizes to the 10-isopropyliden-biladiene-ac.

    Notizen: Abstract The tripyrrin carboxylic acid6 exhibits a pronounced efficiency for carrier mediated proton driven secondary active transport (counter transport) for a series of toxic or valuable cations in a bulk chloroform membrane. In case of Zn++ ions the mechanism including complete concentration profiles forNerst diffusion layers and bulk phase have been established. This compound might be used for detoxification or enrichment of precious metals using membrane separation systems.

    Notizen: Abstract A compound of the prodigiosene type chromophore has been prepared and its carrier mediated transport properties for nearly all physiologically important cations determined using a bulk membrane system. This ligand is a very effective ionophore for these cations without pronounced selectivities. The mechanistic implications of complexation behaviour of the ligand for its transport characteristics are discussed: The physiological (bacteriostatic, fungistatic, antimitotic and toxic) properties of the prodigiosenes may be fundamentally correlated to their pronounced ionophoric properties.

Diese Eigenschaften wurden mit jenen des Hypericins und der kürzlich isolierten Gymnochrome verglichen.
    Notizen: Summary Stepwise electrophilic bromination of hypericin in pyridine as the solvent yields regioselectively 2,5-dibromohypericin, 2,5,9-tribromohypericin, and 2,5,9,12-tetrabromohypericin. The compounds were characterized by means of NMR-, UV-Vis-, and fluorescence-spectra, andpK a andpK* a measurements. These properties were compared with those of hypericin on the one hand and of the recently isolated gymnochromes on the other hand.

    Notizen: Abstract By investigation of bilatrienes-abc possessing a rigid tautomeric structure within their pyrromethene fragment, using13C-NMR spectroscopy, a criterion for the fixation of tautomerism was deduced: if there is a signal in the otherwise unoccupied shift region between 157 and 170 ppm corresponding to an azomethine fragment, tautomerism is fixed. If there is no signal in this region there is a rapidly equilibrating system of the two possible tautomers. This criterion may be used as well for natural substitution patterns. Moreover, assignment of the13C-signals by correlation with the easily assigned1H-NMR signals establishes the position of the fixed tautomeric system. The criterion is applied as well to the 2,3-dihydrobilatrienes-abc where it is in accord with the results gained from a coupling criterion reported earlier.

    Beschreibung / Inhaltsverzeichnis: Zusammenfassung Die zwei roten und zwei violetten „löslichen“ Pigmente ausHypericum Arten wurde durch Extraktion, Chromatographie und Tropfen-Gegenstromchromatographie isoliert. Im Gegensatz zu authentischem Hypericin sind diese in organischen Lösungsmitteln und sogar in Wasser löslich. Aus NMR-Experimenten wurde abgeleitet, daß Hypericin, Pseudohypericin, Protohypericin und Protopseudohypericin in diesen Pflanzen als deren rasch interkonvertierende 3- und 4-Phenolationen vorliegen. Durch AAS wurde gefunden, daß diese Phenolationen Kalium als Gegenion aufweisen. Das Kalium- und N-Ethyl-N,N-diisopropylammonium-Salz des Hypericins wurden zu Vergleichszwecken dargestellt. Ein präparatives Verfahren zur Isolierung von Hypericin und Pseudohypericin aus Pflanzenmaterial wurde entwickelt.
    Notizen: Summary The two red and two violet “soluble” pigments ofHypericum species were isolated by means of extraction, chromatography, and counter-current droplet chromatography. In contrast to authentic hypericin, they are soluble in common organic solvents and even in water. Using NMR experiments it was deduced that hypericin, pseudohypericin, protohypericin, and protopseudohypericin are present in the plant as their rapidly interconverting 3- and 4-phenolate ions. From AAS the main counter-ion of these phenolates was derived to be potassium. The potassium and N-ethyl-N,N-diisopropylammonium salts of hypericin were synthesizcd for comparison. A preparative procedure to isolate hypericin and pseudohypericin from plant material was developed.

    Notizen: Abstract A tripyrrinic carrier has been synthesized and its carrier properties for cations measured using a bulk membrane. A remarkable selectivity was found for Zn+ + and Cu+ + ions. ThepK a values and complexation data of a series of tripyrrinic systems are reported. The basicity of the pyrroleninic nitrogen atom and the geometrical constraints of the ligands are the main reasons for the selectivity and the high efficiency of the tripyrrinic ligand to carry Zn+ + and Cu+ + ions near the diffusion limit.
