Notes: Abstract To provide additional evidence on the synthesis path of methanol over Cu/ZrO2 catalysts, a three‐step in situ experiment was performed in a DRIFT cell. 13C‐labelled as well as common 12C paraformaldehyde and formic acid were adsorbed and subsequently hydrogenated under reaction conditions (0.5 MPa and 423 K). It was found that methanol was generated exclusively from the 2‐H2CO intermediate, not from adsorbed surface formate. Furthermore, the intermediacy of CO2- 3 in the reverse/water–gas shift reaction was shown.

Notes: Abstract. Laser ablation of polyaniline in its conducting and isolating form revealed very similar ablation properties upon irradiation at 308 nm. Both types of polymer film can be structured with high resolution at high fluences. The ablation craters have sharp contours and no debris contaminates the surrounding area. At low fluences the creation of cone structures is observed. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy reveals the carbonization of the surface upon laser ablation. As preferred decomposition sites the imine groups in doped and undoped polyaniline are identified.

Notes: Abstract. The laser ablation of polyimide was studied using 308 nm laser irradiation ≤225 mJ cm-2. Confocal Raman microscopy revealed the deposition of carbon surrounding the ablation crater, which consists of amorphous carbon with some crystalline features. Inside the crater, graphitic material was detected on top of the cones, very similar to the material from cw-Ar+ ion laser irradiation. FT-Raman measurements reveal the presence of intermediates of the polyimide decomposition. Imaging-X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirmed the deposition of carbon material surrounding the ablation crater and showed that the oxygen and nitrogen contents of the remaining material decrease.
