Abstract We suggest to exploit the quantal fluctuation dissipation theorem to construct equations of motion for the second moments around an average solution. For the case of the single particle density we choose the latter to be given by Landau's kinetic equation. The method requires local linearization with a suitable application of linear response functions. The general procedure is explained at the example of shape degrees of freedom. The non-perturbative nature of the approach is demonstrated.
