    Notes: The phase behaviour of methacrylic side chain liquid-crystalline (LC) copolymers, with a spacer-decoupled mesogen in one comonomer and a methyl (MMA) or stearyla (SMA) substituent in the other comonomer, was studied. The mesogen is of the phenyl benzoate type and has a methoxy end group. The LC homopolymer (PLC) has a smectic and a nematic phase. The comonomers MMA and SMA destabilize the LC phase. This effect is compared to the destabilisation caused by end groups in oligomers of PLC. The SMA side chains crystallize so that the SMA copolymers assume a smectic-crystalline bilayer structure. Finally, it is shown that the order of the copolymers affects their mutual miscibility.

    Description / Table of Contents: The Guarantee of Quality for the Steel Hoops of the Refueling Machine of the Nuclear Ship OTTO HAHN by Way of a Special Procedure with UltrasonicThe basic overhaul and renewal of the refueling machine constructed 1965-1967 for the reactor system of the nuclear ship OTTO HAHN required among other things the replacement of the lifting hoops which are necessary for raising the fuel elements and guiding the gripping device. These steel hoops are the critical components of the refueling machine. Therefore the quality assurance of the material was articularly specified.On way of ensuring this guarantee of quality is to carry out tests involving the use of ultrasonic equipment as desired and applied here. The process is explained and its application with the results obtained is described.
    Notes: Die Grundüberholung und teilweise Erneuerung der in den Jahren 1965-1967 gebauten Brennelement-Wechselmaschine für die Reaktoranalage des NS OTTO HAHN erforderte u.a. die Auswechselung der zur Lastaufnahme und Greifersteuerung dienenden Hubbänder. Diese Stahlbänder sind die kritischen Bauteile der Brennelement-Wechselmaschine. Aus diesem Grunde wurde die Gütesicherung besonders spezifiert. Eine der Gütesicherung dienende zerstörungsfreie Prüfung ist die hier beschriebene und angewendete Impuls-Durchschallung in Tauchtechnik. Das Verfahren wird erklärt und die Durchführung mit dem erzielten Ergebnis beschrieben.

    Description / Table of Contents: The Crystal Structure of LiInSe2The crystal structure of LiInSe2 has been determined from single crystal data (β-NaFeO2 type, space group Pna21 (No. 33), a = 718.3(2), b = 839,8(3), c = 678.1(2) pm; 375 hkl, R = 0.032; R(w) = 0.029). The mean values 253.6 pm of the bond distances Li—Se are larger than calculated, the distances In—Se (256.8 pm) are equal with the calculated values. The structure is discussed in relation to the analogous LiBIIIC2VI compounds.
    Notes: Die Kristallstruktur von LiInSe2 wurde aus Einkristalldaten bestimmt (β-NaFeO2-Typ, Raumgruppe Pna21 (Nr. 33), a = 718,3(2), b = 839,8(3), c = 678,1(2) pm; 375 hkl, R = 0,032; R(w) = 0,029). Die gemittelten Abstände Li—Se sind mit 253,6 pm gröΒer, die Abstände In—Se mit 256,8 pm ungefähr gleich den berechneten Werten. Die Struktur wird im Zusammenhang mit analogen LiBIIIC2VI-Verbindungen diskutiert.

The i.r., Raman, 1H n.m.r., and 31P n.m.r. spectra of the complexes are discussed.

    Description / Table of Contents: Herstellung, Struktur und Infrarot-Gitterschwingungen von LiInTe2Die ternäre Verbindung LiInTe2, durch direkte Reaktion der Elemente synthetisiert, kristallisiert in der tetragonalen Chalkopyritstruktur (Raumgruppe I42d) mit den Gitterparametern a = 0,6419(2) nm und c = 1,2486(3) nm. LiInTe2 verbleibt bis zur Schmelztemperatur von (935 ± 5) K in der Chalkopyritstruktur. Im Wellenzahlbereich von 40 bis 4000 cm-1 aufgenommene Infrarot-Reflexionsspektren ergeben zwei infrarotaktive optische Moden. Eine Analyse der Modenfrequenzen im Rahmen des Keating-Modells zeigt, daß die Li—Te-Bindung wesentlich schwächer als die In—Te-Bindung ist.
    Notes: The ternary compound LiInTe2, synthesized by direct reaction of the elemental components, crystallizes in the tetragonal chalcopyrite structure (space group I42d) with lattice parameters a = 0.6419(2) and c = 1.2486(3) nm. LiInTe2 remains in the chalcopyrite structure up to the melting temperature of (935 ± 5) K. Infrared reflectance spectra measured in the wavenumber range from 40 to 4000 cm-1 yield two infrared active optical modes. An analysis of the mode frequencies in terms of the Keating model shows that the Li—Te bond is considerably weaker than the In—Te bond.
