Notes: Abstract Dynamic scheduling is an important new innovation in manufacturing and supply chain management. However, the success of dynamic scheduling will depend on real-time information. This paper describes intelligent tracking technologies that provide real-time information throughout the supply chain to support keywords a logistics planning and execution.

Notes: Summary A single topical application of precocene I or precocene II inhibits the normal process of vitellogenesis inDrosophila melanogaster. This effect is partly prevented by treatment with JH-11 or spontaneously reversible with time.

Notes: Abstract. Organochlorine (OC) concentrations in surface sediment, snails (Lymnea sp.), and two freshwater fish species (grayling, Thymallus arcticus; and lake trout, Salvelinus namaycush) from four lakes in the US Arctic were determined. In surface sediment, chlorinated benzenes (including hexachlorobenzene, HCB), and p,p′-DDT were the primary analytes detected (max = 0.7 ng/g dry wt), while individual polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) congeners were always below 0.1 ng/g. A wider range of compounds and higher concentrations were found in lake trout, the top predatory fish species in the same lakes. The concentration ranges for hexachlorocyclohexanes (HCHs), chlordane-related compounds (CHLORs), DDTs, and PCBs in lake trout and grayling were similar to those reported for other arctic freshwater fish (1–100 ng/g wet wt), but one to two orders of magnitude lower than Great Lakes salmonids. Nitrogen isotope analysis confirmed that differences in OC concentrations between grayling and lake trout are explained partly by differences in food web position.

Notes: Abstract The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Region V Clean Lakes Program employs artificial and modified natural wetlands in an effort to improve the water quality of selected lakes. We examined use of wetlands at seven lake sites and evaluated the physical and institutional means by which wetland projects are implemented and managed, relative to USEPA program goals and expert recommendations on the use of wetlands for water quality improvement. Management practices recommended by wetlands experts addressed water level and retention, sheet flow, nutrient removal, chemical treatment, ecological and effectiveness monitoring, and resource enhancement. Institutional characteristics recommended included local monitoring, regulation, and enforcement and shared responsibilities among jurisdictions. Institutional and ecological objectives of the National Clean Lakes Program were met to some degree at every site. Social objectives were achieved to a lesser extent. Wetland protection mechanisms and appropriate institutional decentralization were present at all sites. Optimal management techniques were employed to varying degrees at each site, but most projects lack adequate monitoring to determine adverse ecological impacts and effectiveness of pollutant removal and do not extensively address needs for recreation and wildlife habitat. There is evidence that the wetland projects are contributing to improved lake water quality; however, more emphasis needs to be placed on wetland protection and long-term project evaluation.

Notes: Abstract If a -field is sufficient for a family of probability measures defined on a -field then there exist regular determinations of the conditional probability of P, given , which are independent of the special measure , provided that is -regular. A counterexample shows that the -regularity of cannot be replaced by the assumption that each is approximable by a fixed compact system. In particular if a -field is sufficient for a family of probability measures defined on a separable -field and if each admits a regular conditional probability, given , a common regular conditional probability, given , need not exist.

Notes: Abstract If ξ∈ (0,1) and A=an, nɛℕ is a sequence of real numbers define Sn(ξ,A)∶=Σ{ak∶:k=[nξ]+1 to n}, nɛℕ, where [x] is the greatest integer less than or equal to x. In the theory of regularly varying sequences the problem arose to conclude from the convergence of the sequence Sn (ξ,A), nɛℕ, for all ξ in an appropriate set K of real numbers, that the sequence an, nɛℕ, converges to zero. It was shown that such a conclusion is possible if K={ξ,1−ξ} with ξ∈ (0,1) irrational. Then the following three questions were posed and will be answered in this paper: 1) does the convergence of Sn (ξ,A), nɛℕ, for a single irrational number ξ imply an→0. 2) does the convergence of Sn(ξ,A), nɛℕ, for finitely many rational numbers ξ∈ (0, 1) imply an→0. 3) does the convergence of Sn (ξ,A), nɛℕ, for all rational numbers ξ∈ (0,1) imply an→0?
