Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary The importance of the analysis of solid matter in the field of material analysis is emphazised, and its extraordinarily great part within the scope of those chemical-analytical investigations is explained that are usually used for the characterisation of materials. A survey is given about the methods of the direct instrumental analysis of solid samples of metallic materials. Application of optical emission spectrometry, X-ray spectrometry, metallurgical analysis by microtechniques and special chemical methods, atomic absorption spectrometry, and methods for the determination of non-metals in metallic materials are discussed in more detail. Finally, open analytical questions are discussed in connection with the characterisation of metallic materials, and lines of development for multicomponent concepts are dealt with. Summarising, it can be stated that without the analytical methods for material investigations of today the high standard of material technology would not have been reached.
