Notes:
Summary The effects have been investigated of a single intravenous dose of 1000 mg 0-(β-hydroxyethyl)-rutosides (HR), (Venoruton® Zyma) on the blood flow (BF), venous distensibility (VD), capillary filtration coefficient (CFC) and capillary diffusion capacity (CDC) in 27 patients with chronic venous insufficiency, and 9 subjects without cardiovascular disease, using venous occlusion plethysmography and isotope clearance techniques. During HR administration there was a significant fall in CFC whilst the other parameters were unchanged. It is considered that this is due to the mechanism of action of HR which reduces the size of the capillary bed by an effect on the precapillary sphincters.
