Description: Multibeam bathymetry raw data was recorded in the North Atlantic Ocean during cruise MSM75 that took place between 2018-06-29 and 2018-08-08. The data was collected using the ship's own Kongsberg EM 122. Sound velocity profiles (SVP) were applied on the data for calibration. SVP data are part of this dataset publication. This data is part of the DAM (German Marine Research Alliance) underway research data project.

Description: A total of fifteen missions of the autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) Abyss was performed in June 2016 over the TAG hydrothermal field as part of the EU-funded project Blue Mining. Each dive lasted a few hours and recorded information for a number of sensors including ADCP (RDI Teledyne Model WHN300 S/N), CTD (Seabird SBE49FastCAT), ECO (=combined fluorometer and turbidity senso; Wetlabs FLNTU/0712017), REDOX-sensor (Eh-sensor by Ko-Ichi Nakamura from AIST, South Korea) . The sensor data is recorded in separate files for each dive. The vehicles performance under water and core functions (roll, pitch, heading, power use, and many others) are recorded in the STATE file of each dive. Additionally magnetometer and passive electric field data is recorded for each dive. The processed magnetic data grids are provided under https://doi.org/10.1594/PANGAEA.899415. The processed electric anomaly data in longitudinal direction (along the flight path) and transverse direction (perpendicular to the flight direction) is provided in separate data sets. For two missions the electrical field data has been measured at three different altitudes (average elevations of 35 m, 60 m and 90 m) above the seafloor. These three different altitudes (high-res, intermediate res, and low-res) are provided as different data sets for those two dives.

The data was collected using the ship's own Kongsberg EM 712. This data is part of the DAM (German Marine Research Alliance) underway research data project. Underway data is collected continuously on German research vessels and can include data from transits or from the entire cruise. Underway data is shared in line with the FAIR principles.

Description: We compared Centroid Moment Tensors (CMTs), calculated for large (Mw 〉5), shallow (〈30 km) seismic events to the orientations of seafloor lineaments (n = 4000) mapped throughout the Lau Basin, in the SW Pacific. Ship-based multibeam was combined with vertical gravity gradient data to provide comprehensive coverage to create the lineament map. By comparing the possible focal planes of the CMTs to the orientations of the lineaments, the most likely fault plane solutions were selected, thus classifying the faults and establishing the nature of the highly variable stress regimes in the basin. We resolved the strike, dip and dip direction of 308 faults, and classified 258 additional structures by fault type. The majority of the table was data downloaded from the Global Centroid Moment Tensor (GCMT) database (www.globalcmt.org: accessed October 2018). For more details about the column headers consult the GCMT database website. New data from this study include the latitude and longitude error estimates (in meters), the classified faults (column: 'fault_type'), and the stress domain (column: 'stress_domain'), allocated to each of the classified faults.

Description: A total of fifteen missions of the autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) Abyss was performed in June 2016 over the TAG hydrothermal field as part of the EU-funded project Blue Mining. Each dive lasted a few hours. The processed electric anomaly data in longitudinal direction (along the flight path) and transverse direction (perpendicular to the flight direction) is provided here. More sensor data and the vehicles performance under water and core functions (roll, pitch, heading, power use, and many others) are recorded in the STATE file, see raw sensor data.

Description: Edited and raw ship-based multibeam data covering the TAG hydrothermal Field at 26°N, Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Raw multibeam data was acquired with a Kongsberg EM122 system at 12 kHz and is provided as Kongsberg vendor format /*.all/ files. The datasets also includes a Geotif of the edited bathymetric grid (in WGS84) with 30m resolution as well as a Geotif of the backscatter information (WGS84; 35m resolution). Edited multibeam data includes approved xyz-data (soundings; WGS84) and a gridded dataset (WGS84; resolution 30m).

Description: Combined edited multibeam data covering the TAG hydrothermal Field at 26°N, Mid-Atlantic Ridge at 2m resolution with two additional datasets covering small subareas, the Mir and Three Mounds area, in 0.5 m resolution. Multibeam data was acquired with a RESON Sebat 7125 system at either 200 kHz (2m resolution) or 400 kHz (o.5 m resolution). The datasets include Geotifs as well as gridded xyz-data. Combined magnetic anomaly data of the larger area was gridded at 10 m resolution and is given as a Geotif.
