Notes: Abstract The formal integration of the differential eq. to an integral equation allows the iterative construction of a class of “basic” functions which, characterized by the kernel, are suitable for developing the solution to the boundary value problem.

Notes: Abstract Chloramphenicol, C11H12Cl2N2O5, is orthorhombic, space groupC2221,a = 17.495(3),b = 7.321(2),c = 22.130(4) Å, andZ = 8. The structure was solved by direct methods and refined to a finalR value of 0.068 for 1186 counter-reflections. Estimated standard deviations for bond lengths and bond angles involving nonhydrogen atoms average 0.009 Å and 0.6 °, respectively. All the hydrogen atoms that are bonded to O or N and are available for hydrogen-bond formation take part in the hydrogen-bonding network. The crystals become brown in color on prolonged exposure to X-rays and γ-rays. Our structural investigation with colored crystal does not indicate any structural change.

Notes: Abstract A microwave interferometer is described, by which the electron density in a small volume inside of a plasma can be measured. By dielectric rods acting as waveguides the microwave is led to this volume. For a given electron density the phase shift is calculated for this volume and for the dielectric rods. By a suitable choice of the radius and the dielectric constant of the rods the phase shift along the rods can be surpressed. The influence of plasma sheaths is discussed. In a special application to the plasma of the negative glow these interferometric measurements are compared with Langmuir probe measurements.

Notes: Abstract K-vacancy production probabilitiesP K (b) were measured with gas and solid targets byK-x-ray particle coincidences (impact parameterb is determined by the particle detection angle) in the region of light (Z P ≃Z T ≃10) up to intermediate heavy (Z P ≃Z T ≃36) collision systems. The measuredP K (b) reveal a very strong difference in shape between solid and gas targets independent ofZ. Only theP K (b) measured with gas targets and those measured with solid targets at very small impact parameters show reasonable good agreement with the 2pπ x-2pσ rotational coupling model. At largeb theP K (b) from solid targets are strongly influenced by a multiple collision effect, where projectileL-vacancies seem to be produced in collisions beforeK-vacancy production. However, this effect cannot be understood just by a two collision process whereL-vacancy production and 2pπ x-2pσ rotational coupling occurs in consecutive collisions.

Notes: Abstract A simple model for the motion of electrons in an inhomogeneous electric field is derived. With this model the striations in a weakly ionized low pressure discharge can be explained as a phenomenon of the energy relaxation. In a periodical electric field resonances occur, for which the voltage across one striation equals the average energy gain of an electron between two inelastic collisions, divided by an integer. These resonances are recognized as eigensolutions in the homogeneous field. The influence of the elastic and ineiastic collisions on the damping of the striations is discussed. In a first approximation the energy loss at the elastic collisions can be taken into account by a frictional contribution to the voltage across one striation. This voltage and the energy distribution function in moving striations are calculated and compared with measurements of other authors.

Notes: Abstract The motion of electrons in high electric fields is of particular interest due to its special experimental phenomena and its problems in theoretical treatment. We examine the spatial relaxation of electron energy distributions theoretically and experimentally. In the theory we assume a negligible elastic energy loss and a simple model for the inelastic collisions. The distribution function can be separated in two factors depending either on the kinetic energyε or on the total energyX=g3+Φ (Φ: potential energy). In application to the energy relaxation we calculate the relaxation of a humped initial energy distribution to a smoothed equilibrium distribution. The corresponding experiment was performed in the positive column of an argon plasma at a pressure of 3.6 · 10−3 Torr. We measured the electron energy distribution as a function of distance from the cathode with a Langmuir probe using the second derivative method. Good agreement was found between the experimental and theoretical distributions.

Notes: Abstract The spectra of deuterons scattered from C, Mg, Ti, Fe, Ni, Cu and Zn have been measured in steps of 5° betweenΘ lab=20° and 165°. The excitation of the lowest levels is in most nuclei strongly preferred and only very few low energy deuterons were observed. The angular distributions of the elastic and inelastic scattering of deuterons show pronounced diffraction maxima which are partly correlated. The correlation is compared with the Blair-model.

Notes: Abstract We present a combined overview of current experimental knowledge and theoretical understanding of high temperature superconductivity based on the charge transfer excitation model. Our model is capable of rationalizing a great variety of experimental information and suggests directions to follow in designing even higherT c materials.
