    Description: The autonomous vehicle is an automated system equipped with features like environment perception, decision-making, motion planning, and control and execution technology. Navigating in an unstructured and complex environment is a huge challenge for autonomous vehicles, due to the irregular shape of road, the requirement of real-time planning, and the nonholonomic constraints of vehicle. This paper presents a motion planning method, based on the Radial Basis Function (RBF) neural network, to guide the autonomous vehicle in unstructured environments. The proposed algorithm extracts the drivable region from the perception grid map based on the global path, which is available in the road network. The sample points are randomly selected in the drivable region, and a gradient descent method is used to train the RBF network. The parameters of the motion-planning algorithm are verified through the simulation and experiment. It is observed that the proposed approach produces a flexible, smooth, and safe path that can fit any road shape. The method is implemented on autonomous vehicle and verified against many outdoor scenes; furthermore, a comparison of proposed method with the existing well-known Rapidly-exploring Random Tree (RRT) method is presented. The experimental results show that the proposed method is highly effective in planning the vehicle path and offers better motion quality.

However, how to prolong the service life of UTWC still requires further research. This study introduced AC-5 and SMA-5 asphalt mixtures, which can be induction heated. Steel fiber and steel slag were used in the mixtures as additives. Marshall Stability and induction heating property of mixtures were characterized. In addition, self-healing property of UTWC materials had been emphatically conducted. Adding steel fiber in mixtures led to higher Marshall Stability and lower flow value, while steel slag generally showed a negative effect. Induction heating property showed a positive relationship with the additives. Induction heating time was positively correlated to the healing ratio of the mixtures. Induction heating on the mixtures could recover the strength of mixtures to a certain degree. Mixtures with more steel fiber showed a higher healing ratio. Basalt-steel slag based mixtures showed better healing ratios than the basalt based mixtures. The healing ratios of mixtures illustrated a decreasing tendency as the healing cycle increased.

For the wake flow downstream of the Savonius rotor, studies have been reported extensively. Nevertheless, literature specifically devoted to the upstream flow of the Savonius rotor can rarely be found. This review collects and compiles findings from relevant studies to prove the significance of upstream flow patterns to the operation of the Savonius rotor. Then attempts from experimental and numerical aspects to substantiate the important effect of the upstream flow are implemented. Based on practical cases and laboratory works, upstream flow patterns for the Savonius rotor are divided into four types, namely uniform flow, guided flow, rotor wake flow and oscillating flow. Accordingly, conditions under which these upstream flow patterns arise are analyzed respectively. Experimental and numerical results are presented to clarify the influential factors underlying diverse upstream flow patterns. Furthermore, the relationship between the performance of the Savonius and the upstream flow is elucidated, facilitating the development of techniques of controlling the upstream flow. This review provides a systematic reference for the control of the upstream flow for the Savonius rotor, which has the tendency of developing into an independent technical branch.

Sonar utilizes widely-spaced arrays to sense environments and illuminate a target of interest from multiple angles. Meanwhile, it exploits spatial diversity for time-reversal focusing to suppress reverberation, mainly strong bottom reverberation. For enhancement of robustness of time-reversal focusing, an adaptive iterative strategy is utilized in the processing framework. A probing signal is firstly transmitted and echoes of a likely target are utilized as steering vectors for the second transmission. With spatial diversity, target bearing and range are estimated using a broadband signal model. Numerical simulations show that the novel sonar outperforms the traditional phased-array sonar due to benefits of spatial diversity. The effectiveness of the proposed framework has been validated by localization of a small target in at-lake experiments.
