Notes: It is shown that the distribution of symmetry-equivalent reflexions around their mean value can be compared with their expected distribution using the χ2 test. Three methods are offered to investigate any part of a data set for significant differences in the variance of the counting statistics and thereby for systematic errors. These methods are applied to a test example. Also, the distribution of repeated measurements of pulse rates is investigated.
