Notes: The title compound, (C10H10N2)2[Mo8O26], was produced by hydrothermal reaction of an acidified aqueous solution of H2MoO4, 4,4′-bipyridine and NiCl2·6H2O. The structure of the title compound consists of the β-octamolybdate anion having a center of symmetry and protonated 4,4′-bipyridine cations. The distances between Mo and O atoms shared by two or more neighboring {MoO6} octahedra are in the range 1.750 (2)–2.450 (2) Å and those between Mo and terminal O atoms in the range 1.696 (3)–1.720 (3) Å. The N—H...O hydrogen-bond lengths are in the range 2.722 (4)-2.755 (4) Å.

Notes: The hydrothermal reaction of an aqueous solution of sodium molybdate, hypophosphorous acid, hydrochloric acid and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) gave rise to tetradimethylammonium tetrahydroxydotriacontaoxo(tetraoxophosphato)dodecamolybdate dihydrochloride tetrahydrate. The polyanion has a β-Keggin structure, with P—O distances ranging from 1.535 (5) to 1.552 (5) Å and Mo—O distances from 1.664 (4) to 2.509 (4) Å.

Notes: Crystals of the title compound, [(C4H9)4N][MoOCl4(H2O)], were synthesized by the reaction of a hydrochloric acid solution of H2MoO4 and [(C4H9)4N]Cl with the reducing agent N2H4·2HCl. The structure consists of an [MoOCl4(H2O)] anion and a tetrabutylammonium cation. The MoV atom is coordinated by four chlorides, one terminal oxo and one aqua ligand in a distorted octahedral geometry. The Mo—Cl bond lengths are in the range 2.352 (2)–2.402 (1) Å, Mo—O(oxo) 1.647 (4) Å and Mo—OH2 2.340 (4) Å. Intermolecular O—H...Cl hydrogen bond lengths are in the range 3.232–3.336 Å for O...Cl.
