    Notes: With the use of Debye–Scherrer X-ray back-reflection photographs, the simultaneous existence of side bands of fundamental reflections and diffuse superstructure lines has been detected in samples of Cu–20 at. % Au and Cu–21 at. % Au, quenched from above the critical temperature of ordering Tc and subsequently heated to just below Tc. The intensity of side bands and superstructure lines increases with quenching temperature. The modulated structure of ordered domains in the disordered matrix gives an explanation of the observations.

    Notes: Abstract A model of structure periodically modulated in three dimensions is calculated in the presented paper and applied to the alloy Cu80Au20. The existence and intensity of the side-bands of the Bragg lines appearing with hyperstructural lines on films of this alloy after heating to temperature on the border of the order-disorder transformation are explained by means of the given model and the value of the period of sinusoidal variation of the lattice parameter and scattering power is calculated.
