Description: The progressive damage in cross-ply laminates was modeled by discrete element method (DEM). A particle radius expansion method was used to account for thermal loading applied to cross-ply laminates in which nominal fibers were introduced in the 0° plies so as to achieve the anisotropic thermal expansion behaviors. A series of convergence and validation tests of both mechanical and thermal properties of the 0° plies with nominal fibers have been carried out in order to validate the method. The DEM results of interfacial stress distribution of cross-ply laminates under pure thermal loading and under coupled thermal/mechanical loading were compared with other theoretical predictions. Microstructure of 90° plies was also studied by the DEM model. Transverse cracking which was formed by the coalescence of micro cracks in matrix and at fiber/matrix interface has been observed in the modeling results together with the ply-ply delaminations. It was found that the DEM model can predict n...

Description: Currently, sediment abrasion is becoming more and more serious in hydraulic machinery. In this paper, the internal flow field of solid-liquid two phase was analyzed. In order to improve the uniformity of solid distribution on the surface of rotating disk, the solid particle diameter and inlet concentration need be reduced. With the increasing of the particle diameter and concentration, the difference of solid volume fraction increases between the rotation center and edge of disk. Particles’ velocity of impact the disk’s surface linearly increases along the increasing disk radius. The impact velocity at the outer edge of the disk is maximal, reaching over 40m/s. The change of impact velocity at each radius is not obvious with the variety of particle diameter.

Description: In view of the reduction of wind turbine operating efficiency caused by wind speed measurement errors, this paper proposes a rated power control strategy for wind turbines for practical applications; in order to solve the problem that the pitch PI controller parameters of wind turbines are not easy to calculate and tune in the process of design and optimization, this paper proposes a complete set of methods for parameter tuning of pitch control PI controllers for wind turbines. This paper establishes a Bladed-Matlab co-simulation platform, uses Bladed software to build a complete model of a 2MW wind turbine, and designs a rated power control strategy for wind turbines. After the wind turbine model is linearized at different wind speed points by applying Bladed software, the linearized model for PI parameter tuning is obtained, and then the optimal PI parameters for each wind speed point are set by using particle swarm algorithm. According to the variation law between the PI para...

Description: Biological filter (bio-filter) exhibits a high potential for sustainability because construction and maintenance cost are low. When bio-filters are used as pre-treatment or post-treatment technology, other treat steps in the combined treat process could prevent clogging and get better process stability and performance efficiency. This study considered bio-filters for reducing the amounts of various wastewaters, i.e., high-strength sewage, municipal wastewater and secondary effluent water, using five kinds of media. The results obtained indicate significant improvement in organics removal when influent COD are 1500 mg/L and 2500 mg/L for anaerobic and aerobic biofilters, respectively. Sufficient alkalinity would obviously improve the substrate removal in an anaerobic bio-filter, when treating high-strength wastewater. The performances of bio-filters are adequate for further removal of the residual organic material and nutrient elements for tertiary domestic wastewater treatment.

Description: As the utmost downstream dam in the main stream of Xijiang River, Changzhou Hydro-Junction has changed the original hydrological characteristics and ecological environment of Xijiang River. In order to grasp the fish distribution and standing crops after reservoir impoundment, a split beam echo-sounder EY60 (120 kHz) was used in the river channel from Guiping to Wuzhou in April 2014, 2015, and 2016. The average fish density in the survey area was 0.1215±0.4198 ind.m -3 in 2014, 0.0190±0.1232 ind.m -3 in 2015 and 0.0107±0.0186 ind.m -3 in 2016. According to the horizontal distribution data, fish density showed significant difference in different area and the density in the upper area was significantly higher than that in other areas. Moreover, fish density was negatively correlation with water depth. As a whole, the Target Strength (TS) decreased in the past three year, TS was significantly different among the three areas and showed a decreasing tend...

Description: A solar-heated anaerobic reactor system was applied to decompose livestock wastewater, in which cattle manure and chopped straw were mixed (COD Cr 15,000∼25,000 mg·l -1 ), the commercial microorganisms were added to ambient acidification (about 32°C) and the acclimated sludge was inoculated. Then, the experiments were carried out on wastewater anaerobic degradation and biogas production at 40∼42°C, as fed every 10 days till stable running. The results showed that NH 3 -N and PO 4 3- of the biogas slurry were 441 mg·l - 1 and 65.0 mg·l -1 on the 35 th day, respectively. The concentration of K was up to 350 mg·l -1 in the biogas slurry, rather higher than that of Mg and Fe, which indicated that the available K could contribute more in the agricultural irrigation. Total amino acids were up to 23.7 mg·l -1 after anaerobic digestion, in which Lys, Thr, Ala and Arg were prominent in the b...

Description: Under the condition of 35 °C, honeycomb cinder was used as the carrier, nickel as the active ingredient, impregnated for 2h, and calcined at 300 °C for 2h. The catalyst was used to Catalytic Wet Peroxide Oxidation of methylene blue simulated printing and dyeing wastewater. The effect of the amount of catalyst, the amount of catalyst, the reaction temperature and the reaction time on the treatment efficiency and the effect of the self-made catalyst on the simulated wastewater with different concentration gradient were studied in the experiment. The results showed that when the reaction conditions were H 2 O 2 8ml/L, catalyst 12g/L and reaction time 1h, the degradation rate of methylene blue reached more than 77% for the wastewater with concentration ranging from 40 mg/L to 200 mg/L. In addition, at a temperature of 30 DEG C, the wastewater, the concentration was 80mg/L, degradation rate was up to 85.70%.

Description: In this study, regenerated cellulose fibers were successfully prepared from cellulose/NaOH/thiourea/urea aqueous solution through an efficient extrusion dissolution method. The microstructure of the regenerated cellulose fibers were analysed by using attenuated total reflection infrared (ATR-IR) spectroscopy and the corresponding two-dimensional (2D) correlation spectroscopy. The results showed that the fibers demonstrate a typical crystalline cellulose II and a relatively high crystallinity. Improved crystal structure and tensile strength were obtained in the regenerated cellulose fibers due to improved multi-roller drawing process. The total crystalline index (TCI) and tensile strength of the fibers at different spinning stages were determined in the range of 0.46-0.54 and 1.06-2.30 cN/dtex, respectively. The described cellulose regeneration pathway provided an environmentally friendly and simple method, which could have a significant influence on current cellulose regeneratio...

Description: It is the research object for the ecological stoichiometry of C, N and P on the different time of desertification grasslands enclosed and grazing grassland in Taibusi country of the Inner Mongolia, China. Through the measurement and analysis on ecological stoichiometric ratio of C, N and P in soil, the time of desertification grassland enclosed is determined. There are 13 soil of desertification grassland with different en-closure time, and 1 soil of grazing grassland. They are analyzed for the soil organic carbon, total nitro-gen, total phosphorus content and their density. The C/N of soil were increased with the extension of the time of desertification grassland enclosed. To 22 years enclosed, the C/N of grassland desertification soil enclosed is greater than the soil of grazing grassland that is 17. After the desertification grassland is en-closed, the C/N of soil is 13, and it is accumulated to maximum for C and N, and The grazing period is the best.
