Description: Remote sensing plays an important role in mineral exploration of “One Belt One Road” plan. One of its applications is extracting and locating hydrothermal alteration zones that are related to mines. At present, the extracting method for alteration anomalies from principal component image mainly relies on the data's normal distribution, without considering the nonlinear characteristics of geological anomaly. In this study, a Fractal Dimension Change Point Model (FDCPM), calculated by the self-similarity and mutability of alteration anomalies, is employed to quantitatively acquire the critical threshold of alteration anomalies. The realization theory and access mechanism of the model are elaborated by an experiment with ASTER data in Beishan mineralization belt, also the results are compared with traditional method (De-Interfered Anomalous Principal Component Thresholding Technique, DIAPCTT). The results show that the findings produced by FDCPM are agree with well with a mounting ...

Description: To investigate effects of the rotation of summer catch crops on remediation retrogressed soils in continuous cropping, a field experiment was conducted. Rice, water spinach, or cress were selected as summer catch crops; bare fallow during summer fallow was used as the control group. Results showed that aquatic crops grown in summer fallow period could effectively reduce soil bulk density and pH, facilitate soil nutrient release, and improve soil physical and chemical properties compared with those grown in fallow period. Paddy-upland rotation could improve soil microbial members and increase bacterial and actinomycete populations; by contrast, paddy-upland rotation could reduce fungal populations and enhance bacterium-to-fungus ratio. Paddy-upland rotation could also actively promote activities of soil enzymes, such as urease, phosphatase, invertase, and catalase. The proposed paddy-upland rotation significantly affected the growth of red pepper; the yield and quality of the gro...

Description: Different capacity control methods are used for adjusting suction flow of reciprocating compressors to meet process need. Compared with recycle or bypass and suction throttling, three capacity control methods of speed control, clearance pockets and suction valve unloading are preferred due to their energy-saving at operating condition of partial load. The paper reviewed state of the art of the current capacity control technologies and their principles. A comprehensive mathematical model was developed to predict thermodynamic and dynamic performance of reciprocating compressors equipped with the capacity control systems of four above-mentioned methods. Comparison of shaft work and mechanical efficiency were conducted for different capacity control methods at the same condition. In addition, their influence on p-v diagram and valve motion were also studied, which is important for reliability and life of the reciprocating compressors. These results were helpful for selection of the ...

Description: Mg alloys have various advantages. However, the low formability due to the poor ductility of Mg alloys limits their engineering applications. In this study, an Mg-3% Gd alloys was chosen to explore processing approaches for improving its strength and ductility combination. The alloy was processed by accumulative roll-bonding (ARB) at 400 ?C to 4 cycles followed by annealing at various temperatures. The microstructures after annealing were characterized by the electron backscatter diffraction technique and the mechanical properties were measured by a tensile test. It was found that the alloy has a good combination of strength and ductility after 2 cycle ARB processing followed by annealing at 290?C for 1h. The strength is 2.3 times higher than that of the fully annealed coarse grained alloy, and the elongation is comparable with that of fully annealed coarse grained counterpart. The good mechanical properties were related to the fine-sized heterogeneous microstructures and weakene...

Description: A multi-frequency reference vessel (RV-multi) has been established at NPL, with the ultimate aim of establishing a standard source of acoustic cavitation in water. The vessel is a cylindrical cavity and can work at 6 frequencies, from 21 kHz up to 140 kHz, in controlled temperature conditions. RV-multi is capable of self-tuning its driving frequency to lock onto a fixed modal pattern, based on the maximised phase derivative of the driving voltage signal. The ability of system self-locking was tested under various power levels. As part of the validation process for the new reference vessel, its performance has been investigated using various methods. A small hydrophone was used to determine the acoustic pressure distribution along selected planes of symmetry inside the vessel. The generated cavitation distribution was also monitored using sonoluminescence, erosion and acoustic emission. In a novel step, broadband laser vibrometry was used to measure the motion of the vessel wall ...

Description: A combination of the finite element simulation and experimental measurement is proposed to study the influence of laser power and scanning velocity on the molten pool size in the selective laser melting (SLM) of GH3536 alloy. The results show that line energy density and molten pool size exhibit linear growth relationship within the scope of the study parameters. In addition, several GH3536 alloy samples are fabricated by SLM technology with different parameters. All SLM samples are used for metallographic experiment to measure the molten pool size. The result shows that experimental measurements are in good agreement with the simulation predictions.
