Notes: [Auszug] To avoid opportunistic infections, plants and animals have developed antimicrobial peptides in their epithelia that can form pores in the cytoplasmic membrane of microorganisms. After contact with microorganisms, vertebrate skin, trachea and tongue epithelia are rich sources of peptide ...

Notes: Abstract We present results of a computer analysis of euclidean solutions of the SU(2) lattice gauge theory Hamiltonian for constant fields. The accumulation of tunneling solutions in a certain region of phase space is investigated because it is expected to give a strong contribution to the path integral. Our analysis shows, that an infinite set of classical trajectories with finite action exists, and describes how they cluster.

Notes: Abstract In this paper we discuss the measurement of regions in the proton where the density of small-x partons is large, called “hot spots”, by means of an associated jet analysis. An analytical estimate of the cross section is presented and the jet kinematics is discussed in the HERA and LEP-LHC frame. A Monte Carlo estimate shows that the number of jets produced in deep inelastic scattering events at HERA, suitable for this analysis, amounts to a few 1000 jcts for a data sample with an integrated luminosity of about 10 pb−1.

Notes: Abstract A numerical study of the Gribov-Levin-Ryskin equation for deep inelastic structure functions in the small-x regions is performed. In the first part we study a simplified version which illustrates general features of the solution and also allows to investigate certain analytic properties. In the second part we formulate a more realistic version of the GLR equation and compute its solution, for different input distributions and for different values of the strength of the nonlinearity in the GLR equation. One of the conclusions is that, provided the input distribution is not too flat and the nonlinear coupling is not too small, deviations from the standard evolution may be visible at HERA.

Notes: Abstract Starting from a four-gluon partial-wave amplitude which provides the first unitarity corrections to the Lipatov Pomeron we study the deep inelastic limit. We find mixing between the four-gluon operator and a twistfour piece of the two-gluon operator. We calculate the diagonal elements of the matrix of the anomalous dimensions and the coefficient function of the singular part (nearn=1) of the four-gluon operator. Several disagreements between our results and the Gribov-Levin-Ryskin evolution equation are found.

Notes: Abstract. Using a set of new odderon states, we calculate their contribution to the diffractive $\eta_c$ photo- and electroproduction process. Compared to previous simple 3-gluon exchange calculations we find an enhancement of about one order of magnitude in the cross section. The t-dependence of the cross section exhibits a dip structure in the small t region.

Notes: Abstract. The rates of inclusive photo- and electroproduction of the $\eta_c$ meson: $\gamma(^*) + p \to \eta_c + X$ are calculated in the triple Regge region, integrated over the diffractive mass X. For the Regge exchanges we use the hard pomeron and odderon, both being calculated in the framework of perturbative QCD. The integrated cross section depends upon the coupling of the BFKL pomeron to two C = -1 odderons, and it is found to be of the order of 60 pb for photoproduction and 1.5 pb at Q 2 = 25 GeV2.

Notes: Abstract This paper describes the beginning of an attempt to study the weak coupling limit of lattice gauge theories, using the Hamiltonian formulation and the semiclassical approximation. The topics are caustics and the behavior of the ground state wave function in the vicinity of caustics. For two very simpleSU(2) models (one plaquette, two plaquettes) we demonstrate the existence of caustics, determine their locations and study the peaking behavior of the ground state wave function on them in the limitg 2→0.

Notes: Abstract For a quantum mechanical system living on the manifold of a compact simple Lie group we present explicit formulae for the quantum corrections, both in the Hamiltonian and, for the most common time discretization, in the path integral. As a special application of this rather general procedure, we compare, for lattice gauge theories, the path integral corresponding to the Kogut-Susskind Hamiltonian and the Wilson action. The latter is shown to correspond to a very special but elegant way of discretizing the time variable.

Notes: Abstract. We analyze the momentum space triple pomeron vertex in perturbative QCD. In addition to the standard form of this vertex which is used in the context of total cross sections at high energies and in the QCD reggeon field theory, there exists an alternative form which has to be used in the study of high-mass diffraction. We review and analyze the relation between these two versions. We discuss some implications for the BK equation. In the second part of our paper we extend this analysis to the pomeron-odderon-odderon vertex.
