Description: With the development of modern society, geomaterials are widely used for infrastructure. These materials often experience dynamic loading and high temperature, which significantly influences the mechanical behaviour of the materials. This research focuses on the effects of the loading rate and high temperature on rock mass in terms of rock mechanism. A state-of-the-art review of rock mechanism under coupled dynamic loads and high temperatures is conducted first. The rock mechanism under static and dynamic loads is introduced. The marble is taken as the rock material for the test, while the split-Hopkinson pressure bar system is used to take the dynamic tests. In addition, the principles of the split-Hopkinson pressure bar are introduced to obtain the dynamic parameters. The fracture patterns of the uniaxial compressive strength test and the Brazilian tensile strength test are obtained and compared with those well documented in the literature. Some curves for the relationships among the loading rate, strain, temperature, compressive or tensile strengths are explained. It is conduced that with the increase of the loading rate, the rock strength increases, while with the increase of the temperature, the rock strength decreases.

Description: Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are facing the threats of clone attacks which can launch a variety of other attacks to control or damage the networks. In this paper, a novel distributed clone detection protocol with low resource expenditure is proposed for randomly deployed networks. The method consisting of witness chain establishment and clone detection route generation is implemented in the nonhotspot area of the network organized in a ring structure, which balances the resource consumption in the whole network. The witness chains and detection routes are in the centrifugal direction and circumferential direction, respectively, which can ensure the encounter of witnesses and detection routes of nodes with the same ID but different positions to detect clone attacks. Theoretical analysis demonstrates that the detection probability can be up to 1 with reliable witnesses. Moreover, both theoretical analysis and simulation results manifest that the proposed method can achieve better network lifetime and storage requirements with low resource expenditure and outperforms most methods in the literature.

Description: When bridge construction has been completed, the temporary support system, such as a steel-pipe pile, is dismantled, and problems that are related to the steel-pipe piles pulling from the strata are encountered. It is difficult to measure the dynamic characteristics of the surroundings during the deep pile-pulling process. A numerical model of the pulling pile is established by using the discrete element method (DEM). A sinusoidal dynamic load is executed on the pile with various vibrational frequencies. The stress, bond, coordination number, porosity, and velocity field distribution of the surrounding soil during the pile-pulling process are studied. The results demonstrate that, during the pile-pulling process, the shearing state of the surrounding soil depends on the position of the pile. The number and area of bond fractures gradually increase, the coordination number decreases, and the porosity gradually increases when the pile-pulling distance increases. Under a vibrational load, the area that corresponds to particles with large velocity and displacement expands with the increase of the vibrational frequency. The major influence zone of the pile pulling on both sides is concentrated within 6dpile, which can be used to evaluate the safety of the existing bridge nearby during pile pulling.

Description: Based on our decomposition of stochastic processes and our asymptotic representations of Fourier cosine coefficients, we deduce an asymptotic formula of approximation errors of hyperbolic cross truncations for bivariate stochastic Fourier cosine series. Moreover we propose a kind of Fourier cosine expansions with polynomials factors such that the corresponding Fourier cosine coefficients decay very fast. Although our research is in the setting of stochastic processes, our results are also new for deterministic functions.

Description: For a smooth bivariate function defined on a general domain with arbitrary shape, it is difficult to do Fourier approximation or wavelet approximation. In order to solve these problems, in this paper, we give an extension of the bivariate function on a general domain with arbitrary shape to a smooth, periodic function in the whole space or to a smooth, compactly supported function in the whole space. These smooth extensions have simple and clear representations which are determined by this bivariate function and some polynomials. After that, we expand the smooth, periodic function into a Fourier series or a periodic wavelet series or we expand the smooth, compactly supported function into a wavelet series. Since our extensions are smooth, the obtained Fourier coefficients or wavelet coefficients decay very fast. Since our extension tools are polynomials, the moment theorem shows that a lot of wavelet coefficients vanish. From this, with the help of well-known approximation theorems, using our extension methods, the Fourier approximation and the wavelet approximation of the bivariate function on the general domain with small error are obtained.
