Description: The concentrations of pollutants in soil samples collected in and around a dumpsite in Heze, Shandong, China, were investigated, and the potential ecological and health risks of these pollutants were assessed. Seventeen soil samples from five different locations were analysed for pollution characteristics, and the target pollutants included inorganic pollutants and heavy metals as well as volatile organic compounds/semivolatile organic compounds (VOCs/SVOCs). Results showed that the mean concentration level of each pollutant from the interior area was relatively higher than that from the boundary area of the dumpsite. Inorganic pollutants and heavy metals were detected in all of the soil samples. According to potential ecological risk assessment with environmental background values of Shandong as screening values, heavy metals in majority of the samples pose low ecological risk to the ecosystem except Hg. Hg poses a considerable or very high risk because of its high levels of accumulation. In consideration of future land use pattern, human health risks derived from environmental exposure to heavy metals were assessed. Carcinogenic risk and noncarcinogenic hazards for adults are acceptable, while noncarcinogenic hazards for children exceed the safety threshold. The health risks are primarily attributed to oral exposure to As and Cr.

Description: A novel printed ultrawideband (UWB) CPW-fed Koch fractal slot antenna is proposed. The UWB bandwidth is largely enhanced by the three-iteration Koch fractal slot whose extrusive angle is 900 instead of 600 to obtain better convoluted shape and self-similarity. The −10 dB impedance bandwidth is 3400 MHz (1270–4670 MHz) or about 114% in comparison with 1290 MHz (1620–2910 MHz) or about 57% of the referenced square slot antenna. Details of the proposed antenna design and performance are presented and discussed.

Description: The attitude motion of a rigid spacecraft is studied in the Earth-Moon circular restricted three-body problem. Firstly, the equilibrium attitude and its stability as functions of the moments of inertia are discussed when the spacecraft is assumed at the libration points. Then, periodic attitudes of a spacecraft with mass distribution given in the stable regions are obtained. Regarding space mission applications, the Sun orientation is discussed, and the orbit-attitude resonances are constructed for spacecrafts working on the libration point orbits by means of a continuation procedure.

Description: The traditional regression model usually simulates the influence of water pressure and rainfall in the early stage based on experience, but it is not suitable. To solve this problem, the normal distribution curve is used to simulate the lagging effect of water pressure and rainfall on dam seepage. In view of problem of slab cracks, the influence of cracks on seepage is analyzed. In this paper, a safety monitoring model for concrete face rockfill dam (CFRD) seepage with cracks considering the lagging effect is proposed, in which slab cracks are considered as an influencing factor. The radial basis function neural network (RBFNN) optimized by genetic algorithm (GA) is used to establish a safety monitoring model for a CFRD seepage. Seepage of the dam is predicted by this model, whose results are similar to the monitoring data, which indicates that the method has certain applicability. Through the analysis of the proportion of factors affecting CFRD seepage, it is found that the rainfall component has the greatest impact on the total seepage, accounting for more than 50%, and the crack component accounts for about 10%. Finally, through the cloud model, the monitoring index of CFRD seepage is worked out, which has certain guiding significance for the treatment of abnormal seepage monitoring data.

Description: Analysis on the actual crack behavior is of important significance to evaluate safety of the concrete dam. In this paper, mainly based on the research status on cracks of the concrete dam, the unit root analysis method of actual crack behavior of concrete dam is proposed based on the monitoring data and autoregression model, aiming to enrich the analysis methods of crack behavior of concrete dam and deepen the understanding of crack behavior of concrete dam. Firstly, the feasibility of analyzing actual crack behavior based on residual sequence of the crack opening displacement monitoring model is discussed. Next, the basic principle of the unit root analysis method of crack behavior is elaborated and the unit root analysis method of actual crack behavior is established by studying prior conditions of the autoregression model and parameter estimation methods of the autoregression model, as well as determination criteria of the model order. Finally, the proposed unit root analysis method of actual crack behavior is applied to analyze monitoring data of a concrete gravity-arch dam. The result shows that the unit root analysis method of actual crack behavior is relatively simple and convenient in practical application, which is an available method to evaluate crack behavior based on data in dam health monitoring.

Description: As one of the most promising research directions, cooperative location with high precision and low-cost IMU is becoming an emerging research topic in many positioning fields. Low-cost MEMS/DVL is a preferred solution for dead-reckoning in multi-USV cooperative network. However, large misalignment angles and large gyro drift coexist in low-cost MEMS that leads to the poor observability. Based on cubature Kalman filter (CKF) algorithm that has access to high accuracy and relative small computation, dual-model filtering scheme is proposed. It divides the whole process into two subsections that cut off the coupling relations and improve the observability of MEMS errors: it first estimates large misalignment angle and then estimates the gyro drift. Furthermore, to improve the convergence speed of large misalignment angle estimated in the first subsection, “time reversion” concept is introduced. It uses a short period time to forward and backward several times to improve convergence speed effectively. Finally, simulation analysis and experimental verification is conducted. Simulation and experimental results show that the algorithm can effectively improve the cooperative navigation performance.

Description: The aircraft arrival sequencing and scheduling (ASS) problem is a salient problem in airports' runway scheduling system, which proves to be nondeterministic polynomial (NP) hard. This paper formulates the ASS in the form of a constrained permutation problem and designs a new approximation algorithm to solve it. Then the numerical study is conducted, which validates that this new algorithm has much better performance than ant colony (AC) algorithm and CPLEX, especially when the aircraft types are not too many. In the end, some conclusions are summarized.

Description: In this paper, a new generalized semidiscrete integrable system with time-varying coefficients is analytically studied. Firstly, the generalized semidiscrete system is derived from a semidiscrete matrix spectral problem by embedding finite time-varying coefficient functions. Secondly, exact and explicit N-soliton solutions of the semidiscrete system are obtained by using the inverse scattering analysis. Finally, three special cases when N=1,2,3 of the obtained N-soliton solutions are simulated by selecting some appropriate coefficient functions. It is shown that the time-varying coefficient functions affect the spatiotemporal structures and the propagation velocities of the obtained semidiscrete one-soliton solutions, two-soliton solutions, and three-soliton solutions.

Description: In this paper, we first present a complex multirational exp-function ansatz for constructing explicit solitary wave solutions, N-wave solutions, and rouge wave solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) with complex coefficients. To illustrate the effectiveness of the complex multirational exp-function ansatz, we then consider a generalized nonlinear Schrödinger (gNLS) equation with distributed coefficients. As a result, some explicit rational exp-function solutions are obtained, including solitary wave solutions, N-wave solutions, and rouge wave solutions. Finally, we simulate some spatial structures and dynamical evolutions of the modules of the obtained solutions for more insights into these complex rational waves. It is shown that the complex multirational exp-function ansatz can be used for explicit solitary wave solutions, N-wave solutions, and rouge wave solutions of some other nonlinear PDEs with complex coefficients.

Description: In this paper, a modified targeting strategy is developed for missions on libration point orbits (LPOs) in the real Earth-Moon system. In order to simulate a station-keeping procedure in a dynamic model as realistic as possible, LPOs generated in the circular restricted three-body problem (CRTBP) are discretized and reconverged in a geocentric inertial system for later simulations. After that, based on the dynamic property of the state transition matrix, a modified strategy of selecting target points for station-keeping is presented to reduce maneuver costs. By considering both the solar gravity and radiation pressure in a nominal LPO design, station-keeping simulations about fuel consumption for real LPOs around both collinear and triangular libration points are performed in a high-fidelity ephemeris model. Results show the effectivity of the modified strategy with total maneuver costs reduced by greater than 10% for maintaining triangular LPOs.
