Description: Wind shear is a dangerous atmospheric phenomenon in aviation. Wind shear is defined as a sudden change of speed or direction of the wind. In order to analyze the influence of wind shear on the efficiency of the airplane, this paper proposes a mathematical model of point target rain echo and weather target signal echo based on Doppler effect. The wind field model is developed in this paper, and the antenna model is also studied by using Bessel function. The spectrum distribution of symmetric and asymmetric wind fields is researched by using the mathematical model proposed in this paper. The simulation results are in accordance with radial velocity component, and the simulation results also confirm the correctness of the established model of antenna.

Description: The interaction between Avelox and bovine serum albumin (BSA) was investigated at different temperatures by fluorescence spectroscopy. Results showed that Avelox could quench the intrinsic fluorescence of BSA strongly, and the quenching mechanism was a static quenching process with Förester spectroscopy energy transfer. The electrostatic force played an important role on the conjugation reaction between BSA and Avelox. The order of magnitude of binding constants (Ka) was 104, and the number of binding site (n) in the binary system was approximately equal to 1. The binding distance (r) was less than 3 nm and the primary binding site for Avelox was located in subdomain IIA of BSA. Synchronous fluorescence spectra clearly revealed that the microenvironment of amino acid residues and the conformation of BSA were changed during the binding reaction. In addition, the effect of some antibiotics on the binding constant of Avelox with BSA was also studied.

Description: Classification is an important theme in data mining. Rough sets and neural networks are the most common techniques applied in data mining problems. In order to extract useful knowledge and classify ambiguous patterns effectively, this paper presented a hybrid algorithm based on the integration of rough sets and BP neural network to construct a novel classification system. The attribution values were discretized through PSO algorithm firstly to establish a decision table. The attribution reduction algorithm and rules extraction method based on rough sets were proposed, and the flowchart of proposed approach was designed. Finally, a prototype system was developed and some simulation examples were carried out. Simulation results indicated that the proposed approach was feasible and accurate and was outperforming others.

Description: Data streams, which can be considered as one of the primary sources of what is called big data, arrive continuously with high speed. The biggest challenge in data streams mining is to deal with concept drifts, during which ensemble methods are widely employed. The ensembles for handling concept drift can be categorized into two different approaches: online and block-based approaches. The primary disadvantage of the block-based ensembles lies in the difficulty of tuning the block size to provide a tradeoff between fast reactions to drifts. Motivated by this challenge, we put forward an online ensemble paradigm, which aims to combine the best elements of block-based weighting and online processing. The algorithm uses the adaptive windowing as a change detector. Once a change is detected, a new classifier is built replacing the worst one in the ensemble. By experimental evaluations on both synthetic and real-world datasets, our method performs significantly better than other ensemble approaches.

Description: A novel passive wireless pressure sensor is proposed based on LTCC (low temperature cofired ceramic) technology. The sensor employs a passive LC circuit, which is composed of a variable interdigital capacitor and a constant inductor. The inductor and capacitor were fabricated by screen-printing. Pressure measurement is tested using a wireless mutual inductance coupling method. The experimental sensitivity of the sensor is about 273.95 kHz/bar below 2 bar. Experimental results show that the sensor can be read out wirelessly by external antenna at 600°C. The max readout distance is 3 cm at room temperature. The sensors described can be applied for monitoring of gas pressure in harsh environments, such as environment with high temperature and chemical corrosion.

Description: Genetic algorithm is easy to fall into local optimal solution. Simulated annealing algorithm may accept nonoptimal solution at a certain probability to jump out of local optimal solution. On the other hand, lack of communication among genes in MapReduce platform based genetic algorithm, the high-performance distributed computing technologies or platforms can further increase the execution efficiency of these traditional genetic algorithms. To this end, we propose a novel Phoenix++ based new genetic algorithm involving mechanism of simulated annealing. Simulated annealing genetic algorithm has two distinctive characteristics. First, it is the synthesis of the conventional genetic algorithm and the simulated annealing algorithm. This characteristic guarantees our proposed algorithm has a higher probability of getting the global optimal solution than traditional genetic algorithms. The other is that our algorithm is a parallel algorithm running on the high-performance parallel platform Phoenix++ instead of a conventional serial genetic algorithm. Phoenix++ implements the MapReduce programming model that processes and generates large data sets with our parallel, distributed algorithm on a cluster. The experiments indicate that the convergence speed of GA algorithm is significantly faster after adding the simulated annealing algorithm on Phoenix++ platform.

Description: This paper studies the adaptive group synchronization of second-order nonlinear complex dynamical networks with sampled-data and time-varying delays by designing a new adaptive strategy to feedback gains and coupling strengths. According to Lyapunov stability properties, it is shown that the agents of subgroups can converge the given synchronous states, respectively, under some conditions on the sampled period. Moreover, some simulation results are given.

Description: The initial alignment is one of the difficult problems of the strapdown inertial navigation system based on the microelectromechanical systems (MEMS-SINS) applied to the navigation of boom-type roadheader under a coalmine. To overcome the complex environment of the underground coalmine and the large noise of the MEMS gyroscope, the laser spot perception system (LSPS) was developed to provide the heading information of the roadheader to aid the initial alignment of the MEMS-SINS. During the process of initial alignment, the differential equation of heading error is derived, the heading error is extended as a state variable, and a nonlinear initial alignment model aided by heading error is built up. To cope with the time-varying noise statistics of MEMS-SINS in the working face of the coal mine roadway, a simplified strong tracking Unscented Kalman Filter (SST-UKF) algorithm is proposed by combining covariance matching technology with UKF. In the calculation of the measurement prediction covariance and the cross covariance, the fading factor is introduced, respectively, to avoid the contradiction between the residuals before and after the introduction; according to the characteristics of the observation equation being a linear equation, it proves that the state prediction covariance matrix change does not affect the observation measurement and uses unscented transform (UT) only once in the state estimation and variance prediction; thus, the computational burden of the algorithm is reduced and the real-time performance is improved. The simulation and onboard experiment results show that the proposed scheme can achieve horizontal alignment within 40 s and convergence azimuth misalignment angle to 0.9° within 450 s, which fully meets the requirements of MEMS-SINS initial alignment for underground coalmine roadheader.

Description: This paper studies the effect of moisture on the handling performance of rugby balls, where different moisture conditions will cause a change in skin friction between finger pads and rugby balls. In this study, a set of rugby ball passing tests was performed under wet conditions to test the effect of skin hydration on the performance of ball handling. A comprehensive analysis was then conducted to assess skin frictional properties at various moisture levels. It was observed that skin moisture is strongly associated with the handling performance of rugby balls. Based on the collected experimental data, intelligent data-driven models were finally developed, including a neural network and a fuzzy rule-based system. These models will likely enhance the anticipation of the handling performance of rugby players, which helps in designing specific training programmes and better preparing for rugby games to cope with wet conditions.
