Description: Background subtraction is a popular method for detecting foreground that is widely adopted as the fundamental processing for advanced applications such as tracking and surveillance. Color coherence vector (CCV) includes both the color distribution information (histogram) and the local spatial relationship information of colors. So it overcomes the weakness of the conventional color histogram for the representation of an object. In this paper, we introduce a fuzzy color coherence vector (FCCV) based background subtraction method. After applying the fuzzy c-means clustering to color coherence subvectors and color incoherence subvectors, we develop a region-based fuzzy statistical feature for each pixel based on the fuzzy membership matrices. The features are extracted from consecutive frames to build the background model and detect the moving objects. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Description: Shale gas reservoir has been aggressively exploited around the world, which has complex pore structure with multiple transport mechanisms according to the reservoir characteristics. In this paper, a new comprehensive mathematical model is established to analyze the production performance of multiple fractured horizontal well (MFHW) in box-shaped shale gas reservoir considering multiscaled flow mechanisms (ad/desorption and Fick diffusion). In the model, the adsorbed gas is assumed not directly diffused into the natural macrofractures but into the macropores of matrix first and then flows into the natural fractures. The ad/desorption phenomenon of shale gas on the matrix particles is described by a combination of the Langmuir’s isothermal adsorption equation, continuity equation, gas state equation, and the motion equation in matrix system. On the basis of the Green’s function theory, the point source solution is derived under the assumption that gas flow from macropores into natural fractures follows transient interporosity and absorbed gas diffused into macropores from nanopores follows unsteady-state diffusion. The production rate expression of a MFHW producing at constant bottomhole pressure is obtained by using Duhamel’s principle. Moreover, the curves of well production rate and cumulative production vs. time are plotted by Stehfest numerical inversion algorithm and also the effects of influential factors on well production performance are analyzed. The results derived in this paper have significance to the guidance of shale gas reservoir development.

Description: To clarify the initiation and migration mechanisms of a discontinuous oil phase in pores, a numerical study was performed to interpret the starting phenomenon and flowing rules of oil trapped in capillaries that have noncircular cross sections. In this study, capillaries with three different cross sections were used to investigate the deformation law of oil and the pressure drop across these microchannels at different displacement velocities by computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The geometrical structure of the microchannels was precisely controlled, and the migration process of the oil, which is too small to be observed by direct experimentation, was assessed and quantitatively analyzed. By analyzing the shape of the trapped oil after reaching a steady state at different velocities, the nonstart and start conditions could be distinguished and the accuracy of the numerical method was verified by a comparison with an analytical method (the MS-P method). Two aspects of oil migration in noncircular microchannels were observed in combination with previous studies: there is a driving force on the cross section of the oil drop and a viscous force at the oil-water interface in the corners, and the more irregular the pore section is, the more easily the trapped oil will migrate. Additionally, the influence of the microchannel cross-sectional shape on the non-Darcy flow of a discontinuous oil phase was clarified. It can be concluded that the presence of the non-Darcy flow in pores arises because trapped oil, as a discontinuous phase, cannot be separated from the capillary wall without reaching critical velocity.

Description: A fault tree is established based on structural analysis, working principle analysis, and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) of the pantograph-type current collector on the Chinese Rail High-Speed Electric Multiple Unit (CRH EMU) train. To avoid the deficiencies of fault tree analysis (FTA), Petri nets modelling is used to address the problem of data explosion and carry out dynamic diagnosis. Relational matrix analysis is used to solve the minimal cut set equation of the fault tree. Based on the established state equation of the Petri nets, initial tokens and enable-transfer algorithms are used to express the fault transfer process mathematically and improve the efficiency of fault diagnosis inferences. Finally, using a practical fault diagnosis example for the pantographs on CRH EMU trains, the proposed method is proved to be reasonable and effective.

Description: WhenA∈B(H)andB∈B(K)are given, we denote byMCthe operator acting on the infinite-dimensional separable Hilbert spaceH⊕Kof the formMC=(AC0B). In this paper, it is proved that there exists some operatorC∈B(K,H)such thatMCis upper semi-Browder if and only if there exists some left invertible operatorC∈B(K,H)such thatMCis upper semi-Browder. Moreover, a necessary and sufficient condition forMCto be upper semi-Browder for someC∈G(K,H)is given, whereG(K,H)denotes the subset of all of the invertible operators ofB(K,H).

Description: Internal model control (IMC) design method based on quasi-LPV (Linear Parameter Varying) system is proposed. In this method, the nonlinear model is firstly transformed to the linear model based on quasi-LPV method; then, the quadrotor nonlinear motion function is transformed to transfer function matrix based on the transformation model from the state space to the transfer function; further, IMC is designed to control the controlled object represented by transfer function matrix and realize quadrotor trajectory tracking. The performance of the controller proposed in this paper is tested by tracking for three reference trajectories with drastic changes. The simulation results indicate that the control method proposed in this paper has stronger robustness to parameters uncertainty and disturbance rejection performance.

Description: Dispersion of vehicle exhaust gas is a primary source of air pollution in urban areas. Thus, it has become an important subject in the automotive field. This paper consists of two parts. First, the fastback MIRA model was selected as study object and a standard two-equation turbulence model was used. The simulation results were compared and analyzed with experimental data. The feasibility of the turbulence model and grid strategy was then verified, and the results were used in the next research step. Second, we used propane as tracer gas while ignoring the effect of the vehicle wake field force on this gas. The tracer gas diffusion in the wake flow field was then simulated through fastback, notchback, and square-back MIRA models. This study focuses on analyzing the characteristics of wake field diffusion effects, particularly in the near wake of a vehicle.

Description: The interaction between the inclined and curved cracks is studied. Using the complex variable function method, the formulation in hypersingular integral equations is obtained. The curved length coordinate method and suitable quadrature rule are used to solve the integral equations numerically for the unknown function, which are later used to evaluate the stress intensity factor. There are four cases of the mode stresses; Mode I, Mode II, Mode III, and Mix Mode are presented as the numerical examples.
