Notizen: The major difficulty in applying the finite element method to practical problems is the design of a suitable mesh and the assessment of discretization errors. To overcome this difficulty considerable effort has been made in developing adaptive finite element methods, but most of the work has been limited to linear problems. In this paper, fundamental concepts related to error estimates and mesh refinement strategies for non-linear problems are addressed. A simple, but reliable, path-dependent error estimator is proposed. Based on the errors estimated by the present method, a mesh refinement strategy is also suggested. Numerical examples of two ideal plasticity plane stress problems are shown. The non-linear plasticity model is based on an incremental theory using the von Mises yield criterion. © 1997 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Notizen: A universal method which can be used to generalize thin plate elements to thick ones without adding any extra degree of freedom (DOF) is presented in this paper. To illustrate this method, a rectangular moderately thick plate element with 12 DOF is constructed on the basis of the well known thin plate ACM element. The element can be used in the analysis of both thin and thick plates. Shear locking is avoided.

Notizen: A 12-DOF quadrilateral element for plate bending is formulated based on the concept of generalized compatibility and semi-Loof constraints. The element DOFs are defined with the conventional displacements at corner nodes and the semi-Loof constraints are used in the formulation. This element is a generalized conforming one which passes Irons' patch test and can be used to solve problems with complicated boundaries. When overall considerations of simplicity, accuracy and reliability are taken into account, this new element is one of the best 12-DOF quadrilateral plate-bending elements currently available.

Notizen: In the paper the authors investigate the conditions of optimal mesh, and prove that the element errors in the optimal mesh should be identical for all existing elements. Also, it is shown that the correct mesh refinement formulations should be derived at an element level rather than the global level. Thus the element permissible errors need to be determined. The method to determine these permissible element errors is described.

Notizen: Based on the modified principle of potential energy, three triangular thin-plate elements with nine degrees of freedom (LZ1, LZ2 and LZ3) are derived by using compatibility conditions for nodal deflection at each node and generalized compatibility conditions for average deflection and average normal slope along each side of the element. These generalized conforming elements are low-order and high-precision elements which pass the patch test. When overall considerations of accuracy, simplicity and reliability are taken into account, these new elements are the best 9-DOF triangular thin-plate elements currently available.

Notizen: The poly(tetra peptide), H- (L·Val1-L·Pro2-Gly3-Gly4)n-L·Val-OMe, which is a recurring sequence in tropoelastin the precursor protein of the elastic fiber, has been irradiation crosslinked to produce an elastomeric material with limited strength. When a material such as a Dacron fabric is impregnated by the coacervate phase of the poly(tetra peptide) prior to irradiation crosslinking at 50 Mrad, the crosslinked product exhibits stress-strain curves with good elastomeric properties and high strength. In addition to the stress-strain curves, the material is characterized by scanning electron microscopy.

Notizen: Calcification is the principal cause of the clinical failures of the bioprosthetic heart valves fabricated from glutaraldehyde pretreated porcine aortic valves or bovine pericardium. In this paper, we compared the calcification on various types of bovine pericardiums pretreated with two hydrophilic epoxy compounds adding GA post-treatment (EP 1 and EP 2), glutaraldehyde (GA)- and nontreated pericardium (Fresh), respectively, by in vitro and in vivo tests. Significant decrease of calcification was found by pretreatment with both epoxy compounds rather than with glutaraldehyde : 0.250 ± 0.001 (Fresh), 0.276 ± 0.058 (EP l), 0.302 ± 0.071 (EP 2), and 0.478 ± 0.172 (GA) μg (Ca)/mg (dried tissue), respectively, after 20 days dipping in a simulating serum solution in vitro; 115.13 ± 60.11 (Fresh), 129.84 ± 51.08 (EP 1), 167.39 ± 20.81 (EP 2), and 205.19 ± 16.86 (GA) pg/mg, respectively, after 3 months subcutaneous implantation i n rabbits. The in uifro method for evaluating calcification designed by us gave the similar order among four samples with that obtained by in uiuo test. Because the bovine pericardium pretreated with the epoxy compounds adding GA post treatment possesses the greater tenacity than that pretreated only with epoxy compounds or GA, meanwhile the calcification is also significantly decreased with this pretreatment, it may be expected that the bovine pericardium with this pretreatment will have the greater anticalcification and durability in dynamic stress. © 1992 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

Notizen: The concept of a generalized conforming element14 is used to introduce a generalized compatibility condition under constant moment, and a new version of the generalized conforming triangular element for thin plate with nine degrees of freedom is developed. The formulation is as simple as for the conventional non-conforming element, and it can be implemented in a routine manner. By satisfying the generalized compatibility condition under constant moments, the present element can always pass the patch test, and convergence towards an exact solution is guaranteed. The element gives highly accurate results, requires fewer degrees of freedom, and is not sensitive to geometrical distortion.

Beschreibung: Bats are rich reservoirs of viruses, including several high consequence zoonoses. In this study, high throughput sequencing was used to characterize the virome through a longitudinal study of a captive colony of lesser dawn bats, species Eonycteris spelaea, in Singapore. This study utilized viral RNA extracted from swabs of four body sites per bat per timepoint. Swabs of the exterior of the bat (head and body) were used to evaluate virus populations and demonstrate utility as a sample site for future surveillance to extrapolate population-level infection. Through unbiased shotgun and target-enrichment sequencing, we identified both the known and previously unknown viruses of zoonotic relevance and defined the population persistence and temporal patterns of viruses from families that have the capacity to jump the species barrier. We observed the population persistence of three zoonotic-related viral families that are known to be associated with spillover from bats to humans: Paramyxoviridae, Reoviridae, and Coronaviridae. To our knowledge, this is the first study that combines probe-based viral enrichment with high-throughput sequencing or that creates a viral profile from multiple swab sites on individual bats and their cohorts. This work demonstrates temporal patterns of the lesser dawn bat virome, including several novel viruses. Noninvasive surveillance methods that target the body of bats not only detect viruses shed within the colony but can also represent viral populations dispersed throughout the entire colony. New knowledge of persistent viral families should inform future directions for the biosurveillance of viruses that have the potential to cross the species barrier from bats to humans or other amplifying hosts.

Beschreibung: With the arrival of the information society, the research on the philosophy of music art has been paid more and more attention to, and the difference and identity in the information of piano performance is worth our deep thinking. In the new era of social information, it is a timely topic which breaks through the traditional research methods of piano art and utilizes the research system of information philosophy. Based on the perspective of information philosophy, this paper attempts to reveal the difference and identity of the main body of piano performance information by observing the ontology and law of music art research and applying the basic principle of information philosophy theory. Thus, the guiding significance of information philosophy in piano performance is discussed and further analyzed.
