Description: The plasticity of Mg is restricted at low temperatures because: (a) only a small number of deformation mechanisms can be activated, and (b) a preferred crystallographic orientation (texture) develops in wrought alloys, especially in flat-rolled sheets. This causes problems in thin sheet processing as well as component manufacturing from the sheet. In this study, different rolling speeds from 15 to 1000 m/min were employed to warm-roll AZ31B magnesium alloy to different reductions. The results show that AZ31B sheets rolled at 15 m/min and 100 ?C has fractured for reductions of more than 30% per pass. However, by increasing the rolling speed to 1000 m/min the rollability was improved significantly and the material can be rolled to reductions of more than 70% per pass. The results show that with increasing strain rate at 100?C, the splitting of basal poles was observed, indicating the activation of more contraction twins and secondary twins.

Description: Surface coarse structure is one of key factors affecting the superhydrophobicity, yet it’s not very clear that what kind of structure is the best for hydrophobicity. Herein in order to study the effect of surface coarse structure, eight kinds of spherical SiO 2 (20 nm, 60 nm, 200 nm, 500 nm, 1 μm, 2 μm, 5 μm and 10 μm) were taken as raw material respectively to explore the effect of particle size on the hydrophobic performance. SiO 2 was deposited on the glass substrate layer by layer using the electrostatic assembly method based on the reaction of amino and epoxy groups. The sample’s structure and properties were characterized respectively by scanning electron microscopy and contact angle measuring instrument. The relationship between SiO 2 particle size and surface hydrophobicity was explored and the superhydrophobic stability were tested. The results show that the surface of SiO 2 film layers are stacked together and arranged tightly, a...

Description: Driven by the strong civil aviation strategy for powerful nation, the civil aviation industry has continued to develop rapidly. The pavement of the running and sliding system has also been subjected to a sustained high load, accelerating the destruction of the pavement. In order to ensure the safe and comfortable operation of the aircraft, it is necessary to conduct a quasi-evaluation of the performance of the road surface regularly, which provides routine decision-making for pavement maintenance and repair. In this paper, the ground penetrating radar (GPR) is used to evaluate the pavement defects at several selected representative airports in China. GPR is also compared with other detection methods. The result shows that GPR has the advantages of high detection speed, high working efficiency, strong visibility of assessment results and having little impact on the airport’s safe operation, which is suitable for non-stop operation of the airport.

Description: With an aim to provide guidance for public health swimming in the beach, as well as provide a scientific basis for beach safety management, a continuous 16-day monitoring after the first rainfall and 6-day monitoring after the last rainfall in the swimming season in 2015 was carried out at Fujiazhuang bathing beach in Dalian to evaluate the effects of rainfall on typical fecal sources (enterococci, human specific bacteroides ) and non-fecal bacteria ( staphylococcus aureus ) contamination. The results showed that the concentration of enterococci using culture dependent method and human bacteroides using real-time PCR always fluctuated with six overlap rainfalls, which had a severe impact on fecal bacteria indicators. During sampling period, the water quality exceeded the single sample standard for enterococci (

Description: Three common edible streptococcus thermophilus (St)、 streptococcus lactis (L1) and streptococcus cremoris (L2) from yogurt were used to investigate the activity of reducing lipid in vitro. All of the three streptococcus could tolerate adverse effects by low acid and high bile salts to survival and reproduction. St had the strongest tolerance with artificial gastric juice and 0.3% porcine bile salt, and still alive 5.02×10 6 CFU/mL. The rates of degrading triglyceride and triglyceride of St were up to 70% and 50%, which were also the best of the three. Next was L1, it could degrade more than 70% cholesterol and 48% triglyceride. And the rates of degrading triglyceride and triglyceride of L2 were 10-20%.

Description: In this work, analysis on noise source and reduction in a multi-blade centrifugal fan used for air-conditioners was carried out by experimental and numerical methods. Firstly, an experimental system using microphone mounted on volute surface for measuring surface pressure fluctuations of volute was designed and introduced, then surface pressure fluctuations of the whole volute for a multi-blade centrifugal fan were measured by this system, and the inlet noise for this fan was also obtained. And then, based on the experimental results, the aerodynamic noise source of the studied fan was analysed. The surface pressure fluctuations of the volute showed that there were largest surface pressure fluctuations near the volute tongue, and peaks appeared at the Blade Passing Frequency (BPF). The spectra of fan inlet noise showed that the peaks also appeared at BPF, and noise levels in a wide range of frequency were also larger. Secondly, the internal flow of the fan was simulated by comme...

Description: Electron channelling contrast imaging (ECCI) was used in the cold-field emission scanning electron microscope (CFE-SEM) to image the microstructure on deformed bulk specimen. Imaging was conducted with a pole-piece mounted silicon photodiode detector at 5 keV to collect backscattered electrons generated from a low-tilted (0 – 3 degrees) specimen. Broad ion beam milling surface preparation technique was used to remove surface layers and reveal near-surface deformation features. The uniaxial hot-compression tests were conducted on Mg-0.3 wt% Al-0.2 wt% Ca alloy. ECCI observations on deformed bulk specimen showed irregular and complex channelling contrast variations inside parent grains and low angle grain boundaries originated from parent grain boundaries. ECCI on an ion milled prepared surface provides non-destructive and rapid visualisation and characterisation of strain fields along with near-surface deformation substructures in CFE-SEM.

Description: Absorbing materials are developed with the concept of “thin, light, wide and strong”, and various methods and materials have been attempted to satisfy the demand. In this work, the in situ growth method were conducted to grow reduced graphene (RGO) into carbon fiber (CF) to prepare CF-RGO composites. Moreover, the phase, microstructure and electromagnetic performance of the flexibility and lightweight composites were characterized. Consequently, the XRD and SEM results indicate the RGO is well grown on the surface of CF. The microwave absorption performance of the as-prepared samples were calculated, and the results show that the effective absorption band of the composites move towards low frequency once the RGO were introduced into the CF.

Description: Ni 0.5 Zn 0.5 Fe 2 O 4 is one of the traditional microwave absorbing materials, and it has attract the focus of the whole world in the past years. The composites behave well in absorbing areas due to its coexistence of dielectric property and ferrimagnetism. The graphene is one of the new absorbing materials and it has been used in varies areas due to its excellent electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity and mechanical properties. In the work, the Ni 0.5 Zn 0.5 Fe 2 O 4 nanoparticles were surficiently compounded with the reduced graphene (RGO), and the microstructure and microwave absorbing performance of the composites were characterized. Consequently, the results indicated that the as-prepared materials perform well in microwave absorption area.

Description: The microwave absorbing materials were firstly used in the Second World War. And the BiFeO 3 (BFO) based microwave absorbers have been widely applied into the microwave absorbing area due to its possession of excellent electromagnetic properties. Various methods have been conducted to improve the microwave absorption performance of the BFO based materials. In the work, the sol-gel method were used to prepare the BFO, and the Zn were doped into the BFO to prepare the Bi 1-x Zn x FeO 3 nanoparticles. The X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, and vector network analysis (VNA) were conducted to characterize the microstructure and electromagnetic properties of the as-prepared samples. The results indicate that the Bi 1-x Zn x FeO 3 nanoparticles were successfully gained and the as-prepared samples possess excellent microwave absorption properties.
